Photos or my description will not do that justice, what an incredible place to ride a bike!
Leaving Málaga for Puerto del León means leaving the hustle and bustle behind and gradually venturing into a road that gains height, curves, and tranquility. The route takes us up the classic climb to the top of one of the area's most iconic mountain passes, then descends leisurely through Totalán and returns to the starting point. The climb to Puerto del León is long but manageable: it's 16 km with an average gradient of 4.6% and occasional ramps of up to 10%. The asphalt is in very good condition and allows for a steady pace. Halfway there, a stop at the Mirador is a must: from there, the city opens up like a map, and you can feel the elevation gain. 📷 The Mirador A little further on, the Fuente de la Reina (Queen's Fountain) appears, perfect for refilling your fresh water before the final stretch. At the top of the mountain pass, the Puerto del León Restaurant awaits with a peaceful atmosphere. I recommend trying their tortilla pincho with special aioli: a simple but delicious combination, perfect for replenishing your energy. ☕ Puerto del León Restaurant https://maps.app.goo.gl/QeJq79hx1AtzENtQ6 The ride through Totalán is gentler, between hillsides and whitewashed villages. Although the ride is predominantly downhill and includes flat sections, it's important to be aware of the crosswind, which can make riding difficult in some places. Near the end, a stop in Bolo provides the perfect finishing touch: good coffee, good music, and that feeling of well-deserved rest. ☕ Bolo https://maps.app.goo.gl/rZHTwKFTxvtz9RMf8 A complete route that combines effort and enjoyment, nature and the city, with stretches to push and moments to contemplate. Ideal in spring or fall, when the weather is milder and the wind is gentler. Did you have it on your list? Have you tried it yet? I'd love to hear how it went or if you have any questions before you jump in. More info: ⚡ @watts_of_coffee | https://www.instagram.com/watts_of_coffee/ 🌎 https://wattsofcoffee.com/
