🤩 I must admit that I am falling in love with the inland regions of the province of Alicante! This time a tour around Marina Baja region aiming to visit the Guadalest Reservoir and as a bonus, reaching the top of the Serra de la Xortà. 🚧 I must say that the route did not start as I would have liked. Due to the intense rains of the past months, the trail that runs along the Guadalest River was destroyed by the strength of water and I had to look for alternatives by road. In some sections there was no alternative but to hike-a-bike. 🏞 Luckily, once I reached the reservoir, that wonderful place and the views made me forget about the previous and now it was just a visual enjoyment. A long time ago I had planned to go around the reservoir and was waiting for better weather conditions and the truth is that I couldn't have asked for better! ☀️ The spring, the sun and the pleasant temperature made this place look even better than I had in mind. ⛰ The original plan was to go around the reservoir but on the way I decided to improvise (once again) and reach the top of the Serra de Xortà to reach 1100 m asl...🔝 and without a doubt that the physical effort to overcome the steep slopes had a pleasent reward once you reach the top. I dare to say that the views are the most beautiful that I have seen, wherever you look the landscape is wonderful. The sea in the background, the surrounding mountains, the city of Benidorm and Altea, the whole combination makes this spot an incredible place! 🤦♂️ And of course, by judging at the way the tour started, it couldn't end any different. An incorrect detour made me lose the way down the forest road and I entered an area without any path until I found the one that runs through the Barranco de Canal. A very narrow one, with a lot of vegetation, so I ended up pushing the bike again until it reconnected with the track 🤷♂️. ADVICE📝: do not forget to train the strength of your arms and shoulders if you think that at some point you will be hiking-a-bike, it can be very beneficial to have a strong upper body!!! 💯 Anyways, my conclusion: I totally recommend the area, both the Marina Baja and the Marina Alta have beautiful places with amazing views!
