We combine a number of activities on this day: a walk, lunch and a visit to the castle. Amboise is an ideal place to perform this. We have found a short city walk of 7 kilometers. The start of the walk goes around the castle, which also requires a small steep climb. After the roundabout of the castle, a short trip through the nice shopping street of Amboise. After crossing the bridge we walk around the island in the river Loire: Île d'Or. The island is somewhat crammed with a nice little residential area, a camping site and sports facilities. The island of gold seems a bit exaggerated to me. The lunch and castle visit were also successful.
