Movement is important! Why?? I couldn't believe it when I read the article. "Around 40 percent of adults said that they had put on weight significantly since the beginning of the pandemic - an average of 5.6 kilos." We don't want to be there. So in the hiking boots and off he goes Peter, Heidi too. The brick tower in the Luckaitztal is our goal. You can park in the center of Werchow on a free parking lot for hikers. Then we are already in Calau Switzerland. The Goldborn, the first little highlight on our way, is the richest spring in Niederlausitz and a registered natural monument. It is the gateway to Calau Switzerland. Despite the good weather, there isn't much going on in Switzerland. Rather, there is very little going on. Actually, nobody is on the road. A lone local walker should be the only person we will meet on our hike today. But we're not worried about that. On the contrary, we enjoy the peace and quiet. We are increasingly impressed by the hiking area. The paths are all in good shape, the signage is above average and in good condition. The path is entertaining and the tower comes into view. Arrived at today's destination, we first climb the tower before we have the siesta. Climbing the 216 steps is an absolute must. Not only because of the view, but also because of the tower. The tower is a really cool product of old craftsmanship. Executed at a very high level. Of course, if you have a brick factory that is over 100 years old in front of your door, you naturally build a brick tower. For us one of the most beautiful buildings of its kind. The ambience around it also fits. Very clean and tidy. Tables and benches built to last forever. A good place to linger and for our small lunch break. After a cup of coffee and a snack, head back over the Kuhringsberg towards Werchow. Since we are obviously still on our own, we enjoy the walk back with a calm pace. We would like to express our great praise to those responsible for tourism in the Niederlausitzer Landrücke Nature Park and especially in Calau Switzerland. A really beautiful hiking area with alternating landscape impressions, easily accessible paths and particularly clean.
The last part is very overgrown. It is best to take the path half right before the Lugteich to the Goldbornquelle and then back to the car park.
It could be summer, so no bikes, hiking is the order of the day. Off to Calau Switzerland. Beautiful hiking trails with many nice views.
Thanks to Hans-Peter and Heidrun, we dared to venture into the rugged mountains of Calau Switzerland. We already know Bucksche and Hohburger Switzerland and of course the Saxon one. Even if the end here at 161 m (Kesselberg), it was a nice and interesting loop. The views here are perhaps not that overwhelming, of course, but the Niederlausitzers have managed to build a lookout tower made of regionally produced clinker bricks so high that you can still look over the treetops for the next hundred years. After gasping on the stairs, we were so close to heaven, at least for a panoramic tour. Finally, high on the 151 m Kuhringsberg. Since we really wanted to go through hell (who doesn't want that?), We had to go around the whole mountain with the yellow dot and back a little way to the entrance. To be on the safe side, a G had to descend ahead to probe the hellish situation. But the all-clear, no fire. Presumably the boilers were on the Kesselberg anyway, there we found tons of depressions and pits into which boilers of all sizes would have fit. We had also heard that Lucifer (Morningstar) was purified and no longer interested in diabolical torments, but in the inner improvement of sinners. So nothing stood in the way of the ascent of hell.
Today January 7th, 2024 to Calau Switzerland. The starting point of the hike is the rest area near Weißag. From there you can easily walk to the brickworks tower. What does Goldborn do in between? I don't know it. From the brickworks tower we continued towards Kuhringsberg. However, we didn't climb it because of hell. What was interesting for us was the little detour to see the newly created moor. We walked back on good paths. A good start for the new year.
@Deleted User yes, it is hilly there and I have seen a lot of MTB trails. It's also worth taking a bike 😀
