Very suitable as a MTB tour. Unfortunately with a very steep climb
A nice round and the sun is out too 🌞🌞 only my knee is complaining a bit 😁😐
A short but definitely worth the hike, with a long, somewhat strenuous climb at the beginning. I enjoyed the last third best – with the view of Bresgensruh and the descent to Bernkastel, including a short walk through the vineyards. https://www.visitmosel.de/wandern/tour/moselsteig-seitensprung-bernkasteler-baerensteig
Hello everyone! Today we started our first tour from Bernkastel-Kues. We parked on the side of the road in front of the town entrance sign and after the cycle path. There are paid parking spaces on the Moselle in the town. You can find the tour under German Hiking Institute/Overview of Premium Hiking Trails/Rhineland-Palatinate/List with detailed description and GPS data. Bernkasteler Bärensteig A short, eventful tour through picturesque forests and open fields. It takes hikers to impressive viewpoints, rocky slopes, vineyards and finally ends in the picturesque historic center of the half-timbered town. Despite the relatively short length, this hike should not be confused with a walking path (the tour is already strenuous). Best wishes and fresh up! Joe
Today a short warm-up for the Moselsteig stages on the next 2 days. The actual path is only 6.5 kilometers, including the path from the area to the car. The path goes quite steeply uphill on the first two colometers, the path was muddy for the first 3.5 km, of course I only had running shoes on for the short distance🙈. Otherwise a varied path with some vantage points
The 6.4 km long “Seitensprung Bernkasteler Bärensteig” trail is a short but definitely tough tour: first on narrow paths through a steep brook valley, then on wide, light field paths, then back down again through the forest. This side jump offers hikers great views of the Moselle town and its Landshut castle. The path is well signposted, but you should keep your eyes open or it was just up to me today :-) There are many great views along the way. There are refreshment stops in Bernkastel where the tour starts. The path is definitely worth it, even if it is only 6.4km. I did the trail as the second tour in one day.
