Rother Valley Country Park is a 740 acre site on former open cast coal mining land. the four lakes are artificial filling in the old coal pits. It's now managed as a wildlife reserve and activity canter with mountain bike and walking trails as well as lots of water sports.
There is a café and shop at the visitor centre.

Gapsick Lane runs from the A616 near Clowne in the south up to a high point of about 141m. It then drops slightly to the cross roads with the A619 on Whitwell Common. This highlight continues along Gipsyhill Lane to the edge of Bondhay Common.

Clumber Park was once the home of the Duke of Newcastle but the mansion was demolished in 1938. It's now a beautiful estate of parkland, heath, woods and the lake. It's now managed by the National Trust. The parkland is free to access but there are paid entry or members areas.
NT cafes, ice cream van and shop on site.
There are also over 20miles of traffic free cycle ways on the estate, most are better suited for a mountain or touring bike but they are flat and not technical so if you don't mind getting a bit muddy...
