Hiking

Crystal clear mountain lakes, quaint alpine taverns and, in between, another way to let off steam - all this awaits you on this eleven kilometer hike. From the center of St. Johann in Tirol you start in the direction of Oberndorf. At the Fixlerkapelle in Apfeldorf you turn off to get on the way up to the pastures.

The track, which is used as a toboggan run in winter, winds its way up through the forest. On hot summer days the trees offer you enough shade. The higher you get, the more impressive are the views of the surrounding mountains, such as the Wilder Kaiser. After a good four kilometers you have reached the Baßgeiger Alm and you can take a break first.

The path leads you a little further uphill until you see the mountain lake Angerer Alm in front of you. Enjoy the view of the lake, the extensive green alpine meadow and the dense forest. If you need a bit more action, then you can let off steam in the climbing park Hornpark even further.

Comfortable it goes on, the next mountain lake is only a kilometer away. The Schlosserbergsee lies quietly in the idyllic landscape, the surrounding, snow-covered peaks are reflected in the water. Just beautiful! You continue hiking and have always great views of the Kaisergebirge. The path leads you on beautiful forest trails downhill until you can see again soon the houses of St. John in Tirol.

Angerer Alm Mountain Lake

Highlight • Lake

Embedded in the green forest and meadow landscape lies the mountain lake below the Angerer Alm. Here you can look for a nice resting place on the shore or strengthen you in the snack Koasaburg. If you want to circle the lake once, you will find a path that will take you along the shore.

Trail Reviews

The mountains have me again: I'm here for a week of educational leave, exactly my thing 😉 After the long and tiring train ride (the HSV fans were really getting the crowd going all the way to Munich), I needed some exercise. I found the hotel quickly, put on my hiking boots, and will unpack my suitcase this evening. The weather was good, but there was a chance of a little rain in the evening. But it didn't come. There were so many great views, peaks towering everywhere, and Schlossbergsee is a gem, so beautiful 🤗 The paths were varied, and there were plenty of places to stop for refreshments on this tour 🙂. Best regards

Very nice hike of medium difficulty with a great view of the Kaiser Mountains. The ascent and descent is quite steep. A hike that you can also do well in the afternoon.

Very nice tour for running and good opportunity to stop at the alpine pastures that are open.

Day 2: 😎 After yesterday's trial round, today we got down to business straight away. 😙 It should be the Schlossbergsee. After the man/woman had agreed on what equipment they should take with them, they went up the hill. We hiked to our destination on wonderful paths. Always in view... That's right... the wild emperor. He stands majestically and immovably in his place. And stretches its broad, jagged sides towards you. As soon as we arrived back in town, we had... of course... ice cream. I can tell you... Wow, it was delicious again. 😂 P.S. It is October 2nd, 2023. We hiked again with short t-shirts and shorts. At a whopping 25 degrees. 🫣

When wet, the trail paths will be very slippery. Better not.

If you have a goal in mind, you get more out of yourself, and that's especially true on a mountain⛰️ hike🥾. You don't always have to hike to the top; a mountain⛰️ lake🌊 can also be a promising destination. In any case, such lakes can be extraordinarily idyllic when the mountains⛰️ are reflected in them. It was a bit steep uphill on small, rooty paths, but when you get to the top, you are simply rewarded with 🌞 and a mega beautiful view🤓.
