Gravel riding

Depart from the Mezzana train station and head towards Ossana along the splendid Val di Sole cycle path. After the village, continue along dirt roads, meadows, and forest roads, alternating between fascinating scenery and diverse mountain panoramas, until you reach the Tonale Pass.

After reaching the pass and recharging your batteries with a well-deserved break, return to Ossana via a long and exhilarating descent on dirt and sometimes rocky terrain. Some technical and uneven sections require good riding skills, but overall the route is manageable without too much difficulty.

The descent passes several forts and military structures dating back to World War I, vivid reminders of the history of these places.

The Mezzana train station is easily accessible from your accommodation thanks to the BikeTrain and BikeBus services, available during the summer. Check the timetables and routes: https://www.valdisolebikeland.com/it/valdisolebikeland/plan-go/bike-train-bikebus

Tonale Pass War Memorial

Highlight • Monument

Passo del Tonale (1,883 meters above sea level) is geographically located halfway between the province of Trento and the province of Brescia, separating the Presanella peaks from the Ortles-Cevedale group.

It is one of the most popular starting points for tourists, both for excursions on foot and for those by bike. In every season the beauty of the landscape will leave you speechless!

For the stretch approaching Ponte di Legno, the state road offers beautiful views of the Castellaccio group, Monte Serodine and, further down, Val Narcanello.

View on Presanella

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Presanella group consists of a single ridge from which seven peaks rise, including Cima Presanella (3,558 m.), the highest in Trentino.

Presanella is a veritable realm of ice and water: in fact, its territory includes seven glaciers, as well as countless lakes of glacial origin that give rise to streams with crystal clear waters and spectacular waterfalls.

Gravel road in the woods

Highlight • Trail

Spectacular dirt road along the hillside that connects Passo del Tonale to Ossana between picturesque villages and enchanting views of the valley and the surrounding mountains.

The road is also suitable for gravel bikes. Very fun and smooth if done downhill, it can also be done uphill, provided you are in good physical shape and good driving skills.
