The starting point of this round trip is in Rastede. From here you cycle via Wiefelstede and Varel to the Jadebusen. Numerous fish restaurants are lined up at the Vareler Hafen, inviting you to take a leisurely break. A detour to the dike is also worthwhile. From here you have a first glimpse of the relaxation areas of the Wadden Sea National Park behind them. The Wadden Sea is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It finally goes back to Rastede via Jaderberg.

Today I'm doing the Ammerland "Wadden Sea Nature Park" round trip. This entire route is marked with a blue wading bird symbol 🐦. The start is in Rastede. The first highlight is the Nethen Beach Club. Here you'll find a wonderful white sandy beach, tropical parasols ⛱️ and crystal clear water. At the beach bar I drink a refreshing lemon soda🍹 and look at the blue water. Then it's on to the next highlight, the Varel harbor. A fish sandwich is of course a must here. A quick look over the dike at the Wadden Sea Nature Park and then it's back to the starting point, unfortunately with a strong headwind 🌬️. Overall, the route wasn't great. You often cycle along the main road. The side roads and cycle paths were terrible. Lots of broken roads with potholes and paths that are very difficult to ride on. Weather 🌤️ ☀️ 25 🌡️ Return trip with 🌬️🌬️
Unfortunately, the entire tour was not recorded. 🥺
Today from Rastede to our favorite place on the Jade Bay, the Varel harbor. Except on weekends, it's always very relaxed here and somehow has a special charm. There are enough places to take a break and of course delicious fish. The route itself leads through the typical flat Wesermarsch, also some stretches on main roads were included ...
Rastede is a very lively town, especially on a weekend with beautiful spring weather. Cafés and ice cream parlors were busy, and there were also lots of people in the castle park. After a short ride around the Ellernteich pond, which was teeming with geese, and past Rastede Castle, we made a detour to the Rastede Palace opposite. Numerous crocuses and the occasional snowdrop were still blooming there. The cycle path to Varel often led along major roads, occasionally along side roads. In Varel, the harbor was bustling; all the restaurants and fish stalls were also busy. Behind the lock, however, with a view of the Jadersiel, one was almost alone. A few cyclists enjoyed the peace and quiet and the view of the salt marshes, seagulls, and waterfowl. The return journey took us along quiet side roads.
A truly beautiful tour with a wealth of variety and recommended rest stops at the Varel harbor. The only drawback is the poor condition of some of the roads. Overall, a worthwhile tour that's a wonderful ride.
Today we did the tour of the Wadden Sea Nature Park from the district of Ammerland. I only slightly modified the route so that it led through our Seepark Lehe holiday home. We cycled via Hahn Lehmden, Rastede, Jaderberg to Varel and back to the Seepark. A beautiful landscape awaited us. Unfortunately, some bike paths are in a catastrophic condition. One pothole chased the next. The tour can also be done without navigation as it is very well signposted. It is commendable that there are enough benches and picnic areas along the route. Anyone who likes to eat fish will get their money's worth in Vareler Hafen. :-) All in all a nice round. LG Werner
