https://www.seefeld.com/de/touren/rundwanderung-wettersteinhuette-wangalm-haemmermoosalm.html A super beautiful and delicious tour. 😊
Temperatures plummet: Yesterday it was 17°C, today it was cold and wet, the mountains white at the top. Few hikers, a soothing silence, and I slowly ascend until the view opens up further and further. Snow flurries, clouds come and go, and a rain shower passes below me. The alpine hut is in hibernation, the tea warms me, and the sheltered terrace makes it bearable even without the sun. I arrive in the valley dry; the weather wasn't as wet as forecast. But autumn has definitely arrived.
It's a shame that this wonderful hut will soon cease to exist as a tourist and hiking destination. The long-distance winter hikes, a fantastic tourist attraction, will also no longer be available in their current form. The tenants are being forced to abandon the Wetterstein Hut after 17 years.
On our last day in Leutasch we were able to go on a real mountain tour. Guests from our hotel had told us that the high trail from the Wettersteinhütte to the Hämmermoosalm was already passable, as there was only a little snow left. That sounded promising - so we decided to do this beautiful route. About half of the trail was free of snow, while on the other half we were glad we had our crampons with us. The weather held up well, even though a few veil clouds rolled in from the south. Overall it was a great final day in the mountains.
560 meters in altitude on a 12 km long tour is more likely to be assigned to the easy category. After all, the hikes in the Eifel show similar values. So tour selected and hiked off. Here we hike 540 meters in altitude over the first three kilometers 😬😬. Of course it can be done, but it's already sporty and can't be compared to the Eifel 😄😄 On great mountain paths and a few farm roads it goes steeply uphill. The many views of the mountains around us reward us again and again for the effort. Finally arrived at the Wettersteinhütte at 1717 meters above sea level, of course, you can relax again with Almdudler and soup. From now on it's always downhill. Mostly over narrow root paths or alpine stony paths. The exertion uphill is quickly forgotten and we are happy to be able to stop off at the Hämmermoosalm for a short break. Then there was Tirolakola. You can like it, but you don't have to 😄😀😀. The further way back to the parking lot leads over a longer distance along the beautiful river Leutascher Ache, which has to be crossed over a swinging wooden bridge. Walking time: approx. 4.5 hours Break: about 2 hours
Wonderful paths, some great root trail. Mega nice climb.
Beautiful round with great views. Ascent also possible via the road, but then definitely not as varied. Wetterstein Hütte in a perfect location. The way back via the Hämmermoosalm back to the car park is easy to walk. The Gaistal, always worthwhile.
This year we left at night and got there at 8 in the morning. After a small breakfast at MPreis, we immediately did our first, still moderate tour to warm up. Today we were surrounded by trail runners who completed an ultra (108 km) from the Zugspitze through the Wetterstein Mountains to Garmisch. Hats off to https://zugspitz-ultratrail.com/
