I passed through the Lahn Dill mountain region on the Lahn hiking trail and found it beautiful. So today I did the extra tour of the Dernbachwiesen. I started the circular tour in Sinn. Through the forest on beautiful paths with a variety of routes, past Herborn to the Jahntempel. Then on meadow paths through the Dernbachtal, beautiful to the bench above Ballersbach. The 5 km back from there were almost entirely forest tracks, dull and hard as asphalt. In the end it was something like "you have to go back somehow." You can see from the pictures that there was nothing worth seeing. I wouldn't do it as a circular tour. I'd rather go back halfway along the great path and be twice as happy. Otherwise a great day with the first signs of spring and lots of birdsong. Wonderful after the silence of the winter months.
The Hörre, one of the largest contiguous forest districts in Hesse, lies between Ehringshausen (south), Herborn (northwest) and Bischoffen (northeast). The Hörre is bordered by the Dill, the Aar and the Lemp and rises to a height of 445m at the Alteburg. This beautiful piece of Germany is explored on a Hessen extra tour, the starting point of which is the hiking portal at Herborn-Seelbach. The hiking portal with sufficient parking spaces can be reached via the Dernbacher Weg, which branches off the B 255 federal road at Seelbach in the direction of Bicken. From the parking lot, head west in the direction of Ballersbach, a district of Mittenaar. If you have some time, it is worth taking a short detour to the town with its historic church, which has valuable frescoes from the 16th century. But even without a detour, hikers can enjoy the view of the wide valley of the Aar, a 20 km long tributary of the Dill. On the outskirts of Ballersbach, the extra tour changes direction and heads south into the forests of the Hörre. Passing the Niederbachsberg (354m) it goes to the source of the Dernbach, which is at the foot of the Hohe Warte (406m). In the further course, the hike crosses the historic Rennweg, the old trade route from Cologne to Leipzig, which led over the Hörre. A short time later you reach an elevated tank and then the Sinner cliffs, from which you have a beautiful view of Greifenstein Castle and the valleys of Dill and Rehbach. Here at the southernmost edge of the extra tour, you return and the hike runs parallel to the Dill northwards past the Reuterberg (374m) to Herborn-Alsbach, where you reach the vantage point Jahntempel, built in 1928, and from 343m you have a view of the picturesque town of Herborn. The last few meters of the extra tour through the Hörre finally leads over the eastern ridge of the Schmidteberg with a view of the small Dernbachtal and the town of Seelbach. Today, after many days of colds and recurring coughs from our two-legged friends, we finally went on a longer hike again. Once again, we headed to the Hörre region, where we've been on various tours several times! Well, they're still not quite back to normal, but our noses are clear, so Fiete and I sniffed out a nice loop for them in the LDB with plenty of rest stops, trails along the border, and great views over vast meadows. After plenty of breaks, we finally made it!... ... Right, right now, the friends can go to the couch...! ... But not before the "tour guide" has been paid in kind!!! 😁 See you soon, your Bruno 🐾🐾 https://naturpark.lahn-dill-bergland.de/wandern/extratouren/dernbachwiesen/
The first 300 meters are missing because I had to restart Komoot. At the end of the tour there was a closure due to tree felling work. This could easily be avoided on a wide forest path.
