Hiking

This wild and romantic circular hike takes you past many sights on the Dresdner Heide to the romantic Prießnitz waterfall and back again.

The tour starts on the outskirts of Langebrück, this is how you get there: From Dresden main station, take the S8 in the direction of Kamenz (Sachs), about 20 minutes, stop at Langebrück station. There is also a park-and-ride car park at this station for those arriving by car.

And off we go: You hike around 16 kilometers on fantastic paths through the northern heath. You will find several rest areas, such as the Ochsenhütte or those on the Ludens Ruh.

You can also take a break in the Dresdner Saugarten. Sow gardens used to be game reserves in the wooded area of the Dresdner Heide. Captured wild boars were kept in them until the 1820s, which were then released again for courtly hunts. They were walled and contained a small farmstead. Today you will find a large crossroads and a rest area with a shelter.

Passing the wildly romantic Prießnitz waterfall (including a wonderful opportunity to cool off on hot summer days) you will soon reach the Hofewiese estate, where you can sit down in the beer garden and treat yourself to a refreshment. You make your way back to the starting point via the Langebrücker suction gardens, the best preserved and largest of the four former suction gardens in the Dresdner Heide.

Above the Prießnitzgrund and halfway between Dresden-Klotzsche and the Heidemühle is this magical refuge with a view.

Priessnitz Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

The waterfall of the Prießnitz river is something special. To experience these forces of nature. you do this hike. The rest options = rest area with seating and the hut, which can only be reached via steps, offer individual hikers as well as groups of hikers opportunities to linger here for a certain time. A refreshing footbath in the river bed is refreshing, but as there is quite a current, you have to be careful not to get knocked over by it.

Path along the Prießnitz

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The heath offers countless hiking opportunities. One of the most beautiful options, however, is along the Prießnitz River. There's a great hut for resting and also places to stop for refreshments.

Steingründchenweg (Seven Bridges Trail)

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Very nice trail over roots and bridges going up and down. It is better to keep dogs on a leash, as a very popular MTB trail also runs here.

Hofewiese Estate

Highlight • Cafe

The "Hofewiese" beer garden, lined with large trees, is located next to a horse farm. The buildings belonging to the "Hofewiese" are currently being restored. This was once the foal breeding ground of Augustus the Strong, and hay for the horses was harvested in the stable yard.

The construction work will not disrupt beer garden operations.

The beautiful and spacious beer garden offers Wi-Fi, card payments, food and drinks, and covered seating.

A stroller-friendly route with few people. Just a stroll through nature. The Hofewiese is also a place to stop for a break along the route.

This time, after a long time, I did a circular hike through the northern heath on beautiful dream paths. I wanted to do this tour a while ago, but unfortunately didn't get around to it, so today I tackled this activity. A beautiful tour on varied paths - some I didn't know - some were very muddy, but you could …

Perfect hiking weather – pleasant temperatures and sunshine 🌞. And then the radio ad 📻 – so off we went to the Dresden Heath. We hiked through sand and mud, interspersed with beautiful forest and meadow paths through a lovely, peaceful, and at times secluded area 🥰. Suddenly, there were more people around, so our destination couldn't be far – …
