March 2, 2024, Schwarzwälder Wandersinfonie Runde — Schwarzwaldsteig ab Bad Peterstal

Peterstaler Schwarzwaldsteig It is one of the oldest premium hiking trails in the Black Forest and boasts beautiful views and life-sized figures along the side of the trail. The tour starts in Bad Peterstal-Griesbach and initially leads a few meters along the stream bed (not recommended during floods) and then the route leads virtually around the Braunberg. Along the way, there is also the opportunity to try the local mineral water.

Beautiful panoramic hike near Bad Peterstal Good physical condition and footwear required. Eating and drinking are common on the tour. Schnaps fountain with non-alcoholic drinks for a small fee is not a problem

This morning we started directly from the hotel with a beautiful view of the town and bright sunshine. First it went down a bit, but the path to the village is closed due to work. So we couldn't climb the beautiful piece on the Rench, but we'll make up for it from below. At the height there are 2 beautiful pavilions and the Grundbrünnele with such a beautifully designed drinks station. Here we simply had to linger a little in the cool shade. First uphill and downhill over meadows, we reached the uppermost houses in the village. From here it went steadily uphill, but with a wonderful view of the Bästenbachtal. We soon reached the Holderstanzenhof with its drinks fountain. Here a liqueur had to be drunk, because the further increase was tough. Now we went to the Braunbergkopf and at the paddock with the shelter we had reached the highest point of the tour. Now came an impressive passage, the Ibacher finish on rocks and beautiful views along a narrow path. Further down is the Wiesengründle fountain and then a courtyard with lots of beautiful hydrangeas, dahlias and marigolds, a drinking fountain and a rest area with a view of Rollwasen. Tending downhill we then reached the Braunbergstüble to stop on the beautiful terrace. Well-fortified, we continue our tour on a panorama trail. Back in the forest there were narrow root paths for us and going downhill along a cherry tree meadow I almost felt in paradise... so beautiful... Always descending in the forest, we reached a Kneipp pool just before our hotel. Starting with the classic way of treading water, I undressed completely and took a full bath in the clear pool fed by the stream. What a treat and so refreshing. A small towel in the backpack did a good job drying off and the last few meters to the hotel were now quickly reached. We both liked the tour so much and I'm still blown away by the many beautiful passages, views and the lovingly designed rest areas.

The weather forecast predicted perfect hiking weather for today, so we quickly planned a tour and headed off to Bad Peterstal-Griesberg. We started at the train station (free parking) and went along the Rench. The hiking trail then turned left up the mountain with a couple of beautiful views of the town. But that was just the beginning. The hiking trail then goes steadily uphill to the Sattelplatzhütte. At the top we had a snack before heading back down the valley towards Bad Peterstal-Griesbach. There were plenty of places to sit, a few drinks stations and lots of beautiful views for those with a broad view.

The pleasure trail "Peterstaler Schwarzwaldsteig" in the Renchtal offers a special Black Forest hiking experience. We think that this premium hiking trail was rightly awarded 89 adventure points by the hiking institute, because the route promises pure variety! We start in Peterstal not far from the train station and go the round counter-clockwise. Right at the beginning of the NaTour we come across the wild course of the Rench, which we accompany over large boulders directly in the creek bed or alternatively along the parallel riverside path a little upstream. An adventurous experience right from the start of the NaTour! There is a first refreshment at the lovingly designed Grundbrünnele. Many more beverage stations are to follow. In the further course it goes uphill past mountain hay meadows and through often naturally growing spruce forests. Shortly before the highest point, the Sattelplatz (744m), another mineral water station invites you to refresh yourself after about 4 km on the Holdergrund. Arrived at the saddle place, we walk about 300m to the lookout point, from where you can see the Alexanderschanze, Maisacher Grat and the Rhine Valley as far as the Vosges when the weather is clear. But that is not the case today. From the saddle place it goes steadily downwards over small forest paths and we reach the very impressive Ibacher Schliff. The Ibacher Schliff consists of large rock fragments made of red sandstone. On the left we pass the red rocks with special flora such as the lingonberry, on the right we enjoy the great view of the vastness of the Black Forest. Due to the heavy rain of the past few days, the narrow path here is badly eroded and we have to be a little more careful than usual when walking. Surefootedness and a head for heights are an advantage here. But after about 400m the path through the Ibacher Schliff ends and it continues downhill over a wide forest path, past the Braunbergstüble mountain inn through the forest and finally through beautiful orchards and other forest sections back to the starting point. Numerous carvings can be found along the entire route, of which we particularly liked the forest witch. A wonderful circular hike with wonderful views, lots of rest and refreshment opportunities and great, varied nature!

What a wonderful walk! Lots of variety, generally well-maintained paths and many beautiful views

Today, on the way home, I set out to take the Black Forest Trail. It's a pleasant walk, even though there are a few dirt roads. However, there are enough highlights, including schnapps fountains, carved statues, and views, to ensure the walk doesn't become a mere jog. The trail sections are also beautiful and enjoyable. We stopped at Braunbergstüble for a hearty flatbread.
