Cycling

Numerous rest stops await you on the tour through the southern district of Schwandorf, which runs consistently on marked cycle paths. Start is in Schwandorf. From the local train station it is only a stone's throw to the Oberpfälzer Seenland cycle path. On this you cycle to the Steinberger See. If you want to take a breather here, you can have a coffee break in the Kugelwirtschaft or in the local bakery.

It continues through forest landscapes on the Oberpfälzer Seenland and Marienthal cycle paths in the direction of Teublitz and Burglengenfeld. In Burglengenfeld, the cyclist-friendly Hotel-Café Drei Kronen with its small beer garden lures you in for a delicious lunch break. There are numerous other places to stop for refreshments on the market square – from cafés and pizzerias to ice cream parlours.

Afterwards you cycle back towards Schwandorf on the fantastic Naabtal cycle path. On this route, one beer garden follows the other - starting in Münchshofen, continuing in Bubach an der Naab and, as an insider tip, the Plank brewery inn in Wiefelsdorf, which has been certified as cyclist-friendly.

Your bike will roll the last bit back to Schwandorf almost by itself. If you would like something to eat before you take the train home, there are various places to stop for refreshments on the market square. Good food, cool drinks, an ice cream in between - this tour certainly offers enough refreshment options, especially in summer!

View of Burglengenfeld Castle

Highlight • Viewpoint

Burglengenfeld Castle, or historically Lengenfeld Castle, is located 427 meters above the town of the same name. It is “Bavaria’s best-preserved castle complex” from the Salian period and is really worth seeing.

A nice bike ride with CH and WHK, but you shouldn't do it on a Wednesday - that's when all beer gardens are closed!
But since the sun had no strength today and a cold wind was blowing, a warm coffee shop was enough for us to sin 😋.
