From the banks of the Mur River to the Almenland region: A panoramic mountain tour with swimming spots, starting and finishing in Frohnleiten.
Short but challenging: This loop over the Heuberg is particularly suitable for sporty cyclists as well as gravel and mountain bikes. The starting point is the Volkshauspark in Frohnleiten, right on the Mur River. The route initially follows a flat path to Schrems, then climbs steadily along a stream to Tyrnau.
From the bridge, the route follows the signposted Dragon Mountain Bike Tour and winds its way up the Heuberg on a forest road in switchbacks. After the climb, a steep descent through the forest awaits, covering around 350 meters of elevation. Impressive views of the Rote Wand mountain and the Graz Highlands open up time and again.
A short connection to the Mur Cycle Path (R2) leads to Tieber Lake. After crossing the new Mur cycle bridge and passing through Röthelstein, the idyllic swimming pond invites you to take a break. The route then follows the right bank of the Mur River, passing through Laufnitzdorf and Rothleiten before returning to Frohnleiten. A stroll through the village and a stop for refreshments provide the perfect ending.
