Reviews for Wendy Trail
muddy in spots from recent rain, but still a refreshing hike. very quiet.
The misty morning views of the Santa Monica Mountains were enchanting. Even in winter, the subtle greens against the fog were beautiful. We made a quick stop at the visitor center, which had clean facilities. Spotted a few rabbits, always a treat.
crisp air and stunning views of the santa monica mountains. so invigorating.
Perfect conditions today! Cooler temperatures meant fewer crowds, and the trail was firm underfoot. A great way to enjoy the views without the summer heat.
my family and i came out here for a relaxing stroll. the weather was absolutely perfect, not too hot, not too cold. the views from the higher elevations, looking out over the santa monica mountains, were just beautiful. we packed a picnic and found a nice spot to enjoy it. no complaints, a really enjoyable day on the wendy trail.
Cooler mornings now, perfect for a run before the heat sets in. Good footing on the dirt path. Saw a few other trail runners out enjoying the crisp air.
This trail continues to impress me with its versatility. Hiked it with a friend who was new to the area, and they loved the easy terrain and the expansive views of the Santa Monica Mountains. We didn't spot any major wildlife this time, but the overall sense of being out in nature, so close to the city, is always a win. Plenty of parking and generally well-maintained paths.
A fantastic little hike for clearing the head. The trail winds through varied scenery, from open meadows to slightly more rugged sections. We heard coyotes in the distance as the sun started to dip, which was a cool reminder of the local wildlife. Definitely recommend staying aware of your surroundings as dusk approaches, especially if hiking alone. Great views.
Spotted a coyote near the open fields, always a treat! Keep dogs close and on leash. The trail was dry, but the views of the Santa Monica Mountains were lovely.
Went for a brisk walk this morning. The conditions were good, though the dry grass meant little in the way of wildflowers. Still, the peace and quiet early in the day were wonderful, especially along the open meadows. Did notice some sections where the path got a little narrow with some shrubs, which my shorter companion wasn't a fan of. It's a popular spot, but early mornings are key to avoiding the crowds.
Great views of the Santa Monica Mountains.
Busy trail today, lots of bikers sharing the path near the Danielson Fire Road junction. Good conditions otherwise, just had to be mindful of others.
This trail is a solid choice for an easy, accessible hike. We were surprised by how many smaller trails crossed with the main loop, so paying attention to the map is helpful if you want to stick to a specific route. No shade to speak of, so the midday sun was intense, but the expansive views of the Santa Monica Mountains made up for it. Would definitely come back.
quick morning hike, got hot fast.
Took the dogs out for an afternoon stroll. They loved it, but we had to keep them on a tight leash due to some animal droppings and the potential for snakes, as warned by other hikers. It was pretty dry and dusty, but the wide path made it easy for everyone. Parking was no issue, even on a weekend, which was a plus. Good for a quick stretch.
My first time on the Wendy Trail, and it was a pleasant surprise. The loop itself is quite easy, but I made sure to check out the visitor center halfway through for a quick break and to learn a bit about the area. Saw a few mountain bikers, but the trail felt wide enough. The wildflowers were past their peak, but the green hills were still lovely. A very accessible and enjoyable hike.
Not much shade, the sun beats down. Start early to avoid the heat. The path itself is easy to follow and offers good views of the surrounding hills.
It was a hot one today, but the views of the Conejo Valley were fantastic. We spotted some rabbits darting through the brush near the open meadows. The lack of shade is real, so we loaded up on water and sunscreen. The path near the Upper Sycamore Canyon Overlook offered some incredible photo opportunities. A great easy escape close to Thousand Oaks.
Watch for rattlesnakes, especially around rocky areas near the main path. Spotted one sunning itself. Otherwise, great views and clear trail conditions.
what a great trail for a quick workout! i opted for the 'steep hill' option at the first fork to get my heart rate up. the trail was dry, a bit dusty in parts, but the views from the higher points were worth the effort. saw a few other trail runners, and everyone was friendly. definitely bring extra water on warm days.
Sunny and dry, bring water!
Beautiful spring bloom, lots of mustard takeover in the meadows. The trail was easy, just what we needed for a leisurely afternoon stroll.
We brought the kids, and they loved exploring the shaded creek area. The path was mostly well-maintained, though a few spots after the recent rains were a bit muddy. The views overlooking the Santa Monica Mountains were gorgeous, and we even saw some deer in the distance. A perfect family outing, highly recommend for all ages.
Wildflowers everywhere! So vibrant.
The fields were absolutely bursting with color from all the different wildflowers. It was breathtaking walking through the meadows, truly a highlight. Parking was easy to find and it felt very accessible, even with other hikers enjoying the spring bloom. A truly easy and rewarding hike with stunning views of the surrounding hills.
