Starting from the hiking car park in Glashofen-Neusaß, follow the "R" markings in a southerly direction. The easily walkable comfort tour first leads past the impressive Neusaß solar field. Electricity for 1000 households is produced here. If you continue to follow the path, you will pass a shelter and the true-to-the-original stone replica of the altar for Mars and Victoria. The Upper German-Raetian Limes can still be guessed at, thanks to the remains of Roman watchtowers and the replica of a palisade. Here you can take a break. In the further course of the circular path you get the opportunity to pause for a moment at the Jupiter bench or the forest sofa. You can take a lasting memory home with you on the Roman photo wall.
Unfortunately there was no stamp in the stamp box 😵💫 ... but overall a pretty relaxed tour and a nice Sunday stroll 🌞🌞
Mars, the god of war, was very peaceful today and even let the sun shine. It was a nice, relaxing day, which we really enjoyed. With us uff de Höh, it's nice.❤️🍀❤️
In the rainy weather, the joy of hiking was limited. So I did the shortest Roman path and got the 2nd stamp for the Roman pass.
- Chapel of Mary - Altar stone for Mars and Victoria - A section of the Limes Trail - Watchtower at the Pigeon Path - Limes Palisade - Wooden Memorial Cross - Jupiter Bench - Photo Panel - Art Workshop at Ziegelhütte
The third Roman path in a row. Interesting encounters with the initiator and builder of the St. MARIEN forest chapel, Mr. HENNIG, who, together with two colleagues and helpers, built the chapel opposite the starting point of the Mars Path. It was consecrated ecumenically on September 11, 2023. In the donor picture in the chapel, MARIA symbolically protects the builders under her cloak. The Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes near Walldürn is the younger of the two Limes lines; it was built at the end of the 2nd century. The Odenwald Limes on the Neckar is around 100 years older. Starting point: car park near Neusaß (opposite the St. Maria forest chapel) Very nice, comfortable Roman path that should be doable for everyone. If you are nearby, you shouldn't miss it. We are a little undecided as to whether it is worth driving there... We simply connected this with the Roman path in Limbach: a total of around 15 km to hike with a 30-minute "drive break" between the two starting points. As with the other Roman paths, the signage and quality of the path are outstanding! Absolutely recommended!
Small but nice. Short round. Very easy to walk and there is always something to see 🥰 It was a lot of fun 💯👌🏼
