The extra tour basalt lake has it all. The last climb showed that I needed more fitness. 😂 But it is a wonderful tour with a lot of variety. Over the beautiful distant view and many forest paths, basalt stones and forest flowers - and herbs. However, the last two recordings are not part of the tour. After coffee and cake at the Kissinger Hütte, we drove past the Eisernes Kreuz car park to photograph the nameless basalt lake and another landscape. Conclusion: It's always nice in the Rhön. 😊👌🥾🏕☘️

The start was at the Oberbach car park. Red B on a white background. Very mountainous, good footwear and good physical condition are required. 🌲🏔☀️🥾🍺🍻🏔
I admit... the weather was so awful that even the dog didn't want to come along. But nobody else was there for that. The kitchen at Kissinger Haus finishes work at 4 p.m. 🥸 but then there was a monastery beer and a garlic chicken to go at Chicken Paula 💗
Unfortunately, the extra tour "Basaltweg" doesn't offer as many views as other tours in the Rhön, but it was still great.
From the Kissinger Hütte, we hiked the basalt trail 🥾. It's a varied tour, along meadows 🌼🌿 and through the forests 🌲🌳. The picture of the basalt lake "without a name" is not part of the tour. On the way back we stopped at the "Eiseners Kreuz" car park and admired the lake.
This may be my subjective perception, but the Basalt Trail was one of the quietest tours I have ever done. The detour through the Lösershag primeval forest was particularly worthwhile.
The tour starts in beautiful spring weather at the site of the former Kissinger Hut, before it burned down. Hopefully, it will reopen as planned this summer. We would have loved to stop there after the hike, but we'll definitely do that next time; the view from up here on the Feuerberg is truly fantastic. From here, the trail initially leads downhill along toboggan and ski slopes, but also over roots and rocks through the forest. At one point, the route follows the "Urwaldweg" (Ancient Forest Trail) around the Lösershag, where there's an old quarry, great views, and impressive slopes covered in boulders. From here, the descent is considerable, making the sometimes steep climb over the last 4 km really worthwhile 😉.
