Extratour Hüttentour - Wildflecken - Rhön

A beautiful tradition continues: Once a year, we meet up with two old school friends for a hike. Even though everyday life and jobs have taken us far apart, the annual get-together is always enjoyable and always like it was in our youth. Only now, we're men and a little grayer and balder in some places.

Was a nice hike with good signaling. Only from the Würzburg house to Oberbach, when it rains or after a rain it is a very greasy route

Finally back in the Rhön. A really nice extra tour, even if I didn't like it that much for the first few meters along the road.

Nice extra tour through the Black Mountains ⛰️ and to the Riedenberger Maria Hilf Chapel 🌹

I had already planned it last week and was sad that the Kissinger Hut wasn't included in this tour. Today, after that sad Tuesday (when the hut burned down 🛖🔥😢), I'm glad I didn't have to face that. 11 km of traffic jam on the A7 there and back, that was the biggest challenge today 😅. Everyone was driving through the Rhön 🙈, I've never experienced a traffic jam between Poppenhausen and Gersfeld 😳. I took today off because I have to work tomorrow. I didn't start until a quarter to eleven 😬 in Oberbach. It's going to be a long day, but the weather is fantastic ☀️🤩. A beautiful path along and above the water from Oberbach to Riedenberg. Short break at the Wendelinus Chapel, which I've only ever seen from a distance (when I was at the Große and Langen Steine 🪨). A very beautiful spot above Riedenberg 🥰. Now it was time to head back down to the village to tackle the never-ending climb 🥵 to Farnsberg on the other side... It was going... Everything 😂 Eventually, I reached the top and landed right by the Tintenfass (inkwell). It was fantastic to sit there in the sun ☀️ right by the water 💦 and enjoy the silence. I had it all to myself 🥰. I walked past the Berghaus Rhön (Rhön Mountain House) because I remember the view from the Würzburger Haus as being simply fantastic. And that's exactly how it was! Today, I saw it open for the first time (they have a very varied menu!). Eat, drink, enjoy... Afterwards, I headed back towards Oberbach, initially along a completely muddy path, although walking the last 3-4 km of meadow path was a lot of fun. A very nice tour! And it was a wonderful day 🥰

A beautiful round trip into the black mountains with climbs and beautiful mountain meadows

Unfortunately the sun was hiding and the weather forecast was wrong. It was still beautiful. Up until now we have always gone hiking from Würzburger Haus or Berghaus Rhön, so the hut tour was new to me and I can recommend the route.
