Tour template: https://www.wanderinstitut.de/premiumwege/hessen/tour-de-natur/ This extra tour fit in well with me today in a framework of about 2 hours, as I planned to meet with a friend in Fulda in the afternoon. A nice extra tour with a certain amount of variety and nice views, although overall nothing too special.
Extra tour - Tour de Natur 🌳 Rhön 🌳 ------------------------------ Premium circular hiking trail ------------------------------ https://www.touren-rhoen.de/de/tour/wandern/extratour-tour-de-natur-bad-salzschlirf-rhoen/39071904/#dmdtab=oax-tab1
A beautiful tour, originally recommended by Touristik & Service GmbH Bad Salzschlirf, known under the name "Tour de Natur" premium trail, which has been awarded the German Hiking Seal. The trail begins in the spa gardens and first leads to Söderberg and Hubertushöhe, offering beautiful panoramic views of the Rhön Mountains. A loop around Söderberg leads downhill, past the train station, into the Lauter Valley. After crossing the Lauter, the trail then climbs back up to Weiersberg. The trail circles the mountain once more to Koppe (348 m), offering beautiful views of the Schlitzer Valley. The descent continues past the solar observatory, through fields and meadows, and back to the spa gardens. In the village, there's another exploratory loop with the unique opportunity to participate in a strange, currently ongoing event, the "chicken show," with coffee and cake. Then it's back to the starting point. A beautiful, relaxing walk with fascinating views of the Hochrhön Mountains.
I found a nice tour for the start of the 2025 season, not too long and not too hilly. The start in Bad Salzschlirf at the spa park, the parking spaces about 100 meters away are free. The spa park is quite nice and then there are a few loops over the railway accompanied by the swearing of the herons that nest there. Pretty impressive. After that, it slowly goes into nature. It goes up and down a bit and there are always beautiful views over the Rhön. In midsummer, some sections might be quite sunny, but at the moment it was nice and sunny 🌞 and there were beautiful places where you could enjoy the sun. Have fun hiking
Finally hiking again today, and an extra tour at that! An almost consistently beautiful tour, only the part through Bad Salzschlirf wasn't that great, I don't find the place that nice, a bit run down. But still a tour with beautiful sections, the sun observatory was also incredibly exciting. So I can recommend it. LG👋
Starting point: Im Kurpark 1, 36364 Bad Salzschlirf. (Lindenstrasse) The tour is marked by a red "N" on a white background and is easy to walk on. It opens up the 12 km spa park in the center of Bad Salzschlirf and the varied cultural landscape to the west of the town. Through the spa park, it goes over the railway line to the Söderberg and Hubertushöhe. From the old border path between the Fulda district and the Vogelsberg district, which runs here, there is a wide view of the village of Wartenberg with the well-preserved castle ruins of Wartenbach in the Vogelsberg district. Past the train station, the path leads through the Lautertal and the Birngrund into the forested area of the Weiersberg. A landscape richly structured with copses and hedges surrounds the 349 meter high hilltop with a sky observatory. From here the view stretches far east over Bad Salzschlirf to the Hohe Rhön. From the natural monument "Oak am Alten Berg" the path leads downhill back to the starting point.
The tour is based on the premium trail "Tour de Natur". We follow the red N.
I think the Rhöner Extratour "Tour de Natur" near Bad Salzschlirf was just the right hike for today. At just under 11 kilometers, it wasn't that long and most of the way through shady forest. However, I did notice that the tour was a bit neglected at times. In places the path was so overgrown that you almost needed a machete to clear it. Oh well, there's just not enough money everywhere. And then a deer almost jumped onto my lap during my lunch break. It came so suddenly that of course the camera settings, such as aperture and exposure time, were completely wrong. All in all, the tour wasn't that bad and I've taken another step forward with my Rhöner Extratours.
