Ochsenkreuz Memorial and Shelter

Highlight • Monument

The Ox Cross was erected as early as the 17th century and has been renewed over the centuries. It is reminiscent of the shepherds of the village Wiemeringhausen, who was killed there by an ox.

Little known but beautiful! The Langenberg lies between Bruchhausen, Wiemeringhausen, Niedersfeld and Willingen. Rothaar and Uplandsteig run directly over the summit. There is a stamp of the Assinghauser hiking pin on the cross.

August 16, 2021,Langenberg Rundweg B3
The way there from Bruchhausen to Langenberg was mostly on wide forest roads through spruce forest and it was very windy and foggy (at Langenberg). The way back was more varied with beautiful paths and a few viewpoints.

Komoot suggested this tour for the weekend. Since we hadn't conquered the Langenberg yet, we set off.
Despite a larger proportion of asphalt at the beginning, it was a top round. Lots of forest and a long stage on the Rothaarsteig/Briloner Kammweg. In many places, we could enjoy great views. The summit is rather unspectacular, but with a hammock. To …

Yesterday I was still complaining about the signage in the Sauerland, but today I found a positive example! The Langenberg circular trail (B3) is superbly signposted; you can actually walk it without a map.
A fantastic trail up the highest mountain in the Sauerland! At 843 meters, it's 1 meter higher than the Kahler Asten.

Today we decided to climb the highest mountain in ⛰️NRW 🥾🥾😃. We started in the town of Bruchhauen. Nature needs the rain ☔️, but it stayed away. We made a quick ascent along beautiful paths 🌲🌳nothing to complain about 😁plenty of places to stop for a break 👍The descent from the narrow, rustic 🌲🌲 paths was fantastic 🤗Stop at the …

Beautiful, approx. 4-hour circular hike on the Rothaarsteig over the highest mountain in Westphalia, the Langenberg.

Parked in the parking lot at the church in Bruchhausen, this is where our round started. The goal was the highest point in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Langenberg 848üNN. The path is excellently marked, follow the B3. First it goes over the "hiking highways" of the Rothaarsteig. As you get higher, it gets nicer and steeper, partly through very beautiful high …

We started our snow hike today in the middle of the village of Bruchhausen.
Stops were the Ochsenkreuz, the Sternrodtlift and the Langenberg (843 m). Through a flurry of snow it went back to the starting point below the Bruchhauser stones.
Unfortunately, we did not have good visibility due to heavy snowfall ❄️. Will repeat the tour at ☀️.

The Langenbergrundweg B3 offers an alternative ascent to the Langenberg from Bruchhausen, which doesn't have to hide from the Rothaarsteig section at all 🙋‍♂️

The route above does not correspond to the original route! If you follow the B3 sign, you're on the right path. Unfortunately, it doesn't start at a parking lot.
