Today we went from Medelon via the Orketal circular trail over Berge and Dreislar back to the hiking car park near Medelon. The condition of the trail is mixed, paths and forest paths alternate with gravel forest paths. A good 2/3 of the route goes over open terrain at the edge of the forest or across fields. About 1/3 runs through the shade of the forest. The distant views are great. The last 2km back to the car park could also be shortened as you have to walk back to Medelon, but there is nothing exciting to see there.
Start/Finish: Medeloh Hiking Car Park, Medebach-Medeloh From the hiking car park, we walked through the tall grass and over a bridge. In the village of Medeloh, we walked along the Orke River. The trail led over paths and meadow paths to Berge. In Berge, we walked through the village. The trail continued over paths and meadow paths. A break under a tree, on a bench with peace and a great view, was very relaxing. Wide forest paths led us to the Dreislar summit and the view of the village. Past the museum in the village and over meadow paths, we reached the final climb. Unfortunately, it was a paved road, so we decided to take the path through the forest, as it was cool. It was quite pleasant in the morning, but by the afternoon, the sun had really sapped our energy. There was little asphalt. I was accompanied by @Silke 🌞 and @Lisa's Abenteuer. The group was very relaxed. I would repeat the tour in the fall.
Back in the mountain feeling of the Sauerland, where it must have rained heavily this morning. Now a mix of a lot of ☀️ and some 🌤️. ⛰️ The circular hiking trail officially begins at the WP Orketal in Medelon, signposted with a blue H. We started halfway in Dreislar at the museum (unfortunately it was closed), so we had the asphalt at the beginning and the bathroom for 🐶 in the middle of the tour. So it was the right decision given the nature of the path. 🌿 The tour offers: plenty of panoramas, many meadow and forest paths, a few paths. Plus culture in the form of churches and a summit cross! Once again a very nice template and probably perfect for the winter due to the nature of the path. 🐾
Today I was hiking in the Medebach Sauerland region with @Jenny_geht_wandern and @Lisa's Abenteuer – on the Orketalrundweg, a circular hiking trail of the Sauerland-Höhenflug. The starting point was the hiking car park west of Medelon. The trailhead was initially quite overgrown, then the trail led through the town and continued along paths and meadow trails toward the mountains. South of there, we took a relaxing break with a beautiful view before continuing toward Dreislar. There we reached the Opolt summit cross, from which we had a beautiful view of the town. The final climb back toward Medelon was once again challenging in the now significantly stronger heat. We therefore spontaneously decided to adjust the route slightly and choose a shadier path through the forest – the originally planned route would have meant a lot more sun. The trail conditions were generally pleasant: many forest and meadow paths, with some asphalt around the towns, but this was within limits. Overall, a fairly quiet area. The tour offers some beautiful views, but also open passages where you can really feel the sun (depending on the time of day).
I once saw a report about Medelon on WDR Lokalzeit. We had to go there! We were not disappointed. On the Sauerland Höhenflug loop we went through forests past rapeseed fields to the summit cross. The village church in Berge is beautiful and stands out because of its slightly crooked tower. Great views over the Medebach Bay including a view of the castle. A varied tour that really exhausted us due to the summer temperatures. We'll see what the sore muscles tell us tomorrow morning. So: Medelon and the other well-kept villages we passed through were worth a hike.
Happy Easter 🐣🐇🥚 we wish all Komootlers 🥾🥾 Great weather 😎☀️🫠 for the Easter hike and the scent of wild cherry blossoms🐝 🍒, a wonderful blue sky, cotton clouds 🫶 the chirping of the 🐦🐦, another wonderful tour, everything perfect, the paths 🌲🌳🐦, the forest and the meadows in lush🐸 green 🐝🦋🐞
Actually a nice path but the markings are a disgrace, so we made a big loop on a gravel path right at the beginning. At some point after Dreisel we were so fed up with searching that we walked back to Medelon via the Meldebacher Bergweg.
