The SauerlandRadring is a true cyclist highlight: on a 84-kilometer round, it connects cities such as Finnentrop, Eslohe, Schmallenberg or Lennestadt. It runs over former railway tracks far away from traffic through the wonderful nature of the Sauerland. And because it's a ring, you can get in and out where you want. With the Hennesee loop, this tour is complemented by a 126-kilometer cyclist pleasure. The route is in the form of an eight, so you can shorten it easily, or you can drive as a multi-day tour completely.
In addition to the well-paved cycling route and the many nice breaks, this tour is also a great nature experience. Away from traffic, many animals have found a habitat and with a little peace and patience, you can watch them on the go. Especially exciting are the tunnels, which you drive on the former railway line. In it today bats have settled, which find here optimal living conditions.
In addition to a great deal of nature, all kinds of cultural highlights await you on the route. In addition to the track you can always admire the witnesses of the railway technical history of the ring. Old signals, bumpers, wagons and even steam locomotives make your ride an entertaining experience. And of course, the Sauerland is prepared to take care of your physical well-being. There are always opportunities for a little or a lot of refreshment along the way. If you want to do this tour in stages, you will find countless cozy accommodations in Finnentrop, Eslohne, Meschede, Schmallenberg and Lennestadt.

I have to use today's bridging day for a ride on one of the most beautiful cycle paths in Germany: the Sauerlandradring. 😊 The additional Hennesee loop was used. If you are "organic" on the road, I recommend that you only ride this version if you are in good physical condition. 🙈 With an e-bike and some experience in longer tours, it shouldn't be a problem. The cycle path leads mostly over old railway lines and is a lot of fun. The Kückelheim bat tunnel is certainly one of the highlights. 🙃 Numerous benches and shelters invite you to take a break. In terms of landscape, the Sauerland is of course beyond any doubt. ☺️ I was allowed to drive today in the finest weather. Bright sunshine and a few clouds in the otherwise blue sky. 💯 The only sticking point was the constant wind, which - how could it be otherwise - mainly came from the front. 🙄 All in all, a great tour. The bridging day was used perfectly. 👌🏻😊
Super nice round, from the Meschede Bf car park. Very nice route with plenty of rest stops and opportunities to eat and drink along the way. Mostly on bike paths, and very few roads.
This morning, I spontaneously tackled the Sauerland Cycle Ring. And then, just as spontaneously, after Eslsohe, I turned left onto the Hennesee Loop (or Nordschleife)! I've always wanted to do that!!! 😎 It was a lot today, but "closing the education gap" is also important 😀😅
Fantastic for everyone who likes to drive on former railway lines. Finest asphalt almost everywhere. However, you have to remember that it is quite hilly. It's either up or down to be precise, no flat sections. That's why I'm very happy that I took out my e-bike for the tour.... in the end, a good 50 percent of the battery was gone. So it was worth taking the heavyweight with you. The route itself offers very beautiful nature in all directions and where you look. What is missing is a highlight... There was a small castle that now serves as a hotel, a tunnel and the lake itself... I was aiming for the BAR at the dam. You sit under palm trees... it's quite nice... otherwise just little things on the side of the road that are marked as highlights. The parking lot in Wennemen is perfect, free of charge and already signposted as "P-Sauerlandring" at the entrance to the town, no crowds, it was pretty empty. Otherwise I have the typical Monday problem... "rest day"... only after 70 km did a restaurant open... I let myself go right away... 😉
Today I ventured out on the Sauerland Cycle Ring with the Hennesee Loop. I started in Finnentrop. The route then led via Saalhausen and Schmallenberg to Bad Fredeburg. In Mailar, I followed the Henne Cycle Ring via Oberhenneborn. My goodness, there were some serious climbs there. Once I reached Hennesee, I continued to Meschede and Wennemen via the Hennesee Loop. Back on the Sauerland Cycle Ring, I went via Sallinghausen, Eslohe, and the Bat Tunnel back to the starting point.
A great walk with many beautiful panoramic views, the beautiful Hennesee, and with the warm weather, the bat tunnel offered a pleasant cooling off point for free. Great 👍
