Tour 7: ‘Calm water’ Bütgenbach – hiking in East Belgium

You are after an active day? Then the lake of Bütgenbach is just right for you. Here you can go fishing, sailing, swimming, canoeing, windsurfing and of course hiking. How about starting a varied day with a ten-kilometer tour around the lake? Let's start in Worriken.

You wander along the bank of the reservoir until you reach the dam after one and a half kilometers. The building is 23 meters high, 140 meters long and consists of several vaulted arches. The path leads you over the wall and offers you a great insight into the architecture.

Continue along the shore of the lake. Again and again you come to beautiful resting places over, where you can make a small picnic and enjoy the lake panorama. After just under eight kilometers you get an insight into the nature reserve of the Warche. Here you can discover typical alpine plants such as the fennel and the black knapweed.

Not much longer, then you have circled the lake and come back to the starting point. For refreshment you can jump in the seaside resort in the cool water and either active or rather relaxed enjoy the rest of the day on the lake.
