The Vennbahn is a former railway line connecting Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg. After the track lost importance, the tracks were dismantled and built a cross-country bike path. And that is really well done.

2nd stage to Bütgenbach. After a delicious breakfast we set off refreshed. Apart from a construction site with no diversion signs, the Vennbahn went quite well. The weather was great but quite windy. The first 30 km were steadily uphill. Took a bit of a while. But Shimano supported us well here too. First we put our feet up at the hotel and looked for a feeding trough for this evening and then a nightcap before bed.
The Vennbahn is a wonderful nature experience, very pleasant to ride on paved paths through forests, high-altitude trails, and flowering meadows. We stopped for a break at a locomotive turning point. Its function was well explained with beautiful information boards – very interesting.
