Lucas
June 18, 2022, Wein und Glaube: Liebliches Taubertal R03

Start: Kloster Brommbach Bf Destination: Wertheim Bf Length: 15 kilometers Altitude: 290 meters in altitude Difficulty: Easy Nickname: Wine and Faith Directions: After almost a year, I once again chose an LT tour. The LT three is the only route tour that has been planned, don't worry the start and finish are at train stations. The start is at the Bronnbach Monastery train station, which we can quickly reach after the Tauber Bridge. The monastery dates from the twelfth century and can be visited. Through the orangery, take a path up the hill on the left. Shortly before we get to the top, we walk past the Konrad Chapel. Here it is also worth taking a look inside. Next we go through the Schafhof which we reach after a left turn. After Schafhof, the landscape allows us a wide view. Before going back into the forest and into the valley. At the Satzenberg there are the last terraced vineyards in the Taubertal and a beautiful view back to the monastery. The next village is Reichholzheim. Reichholzheim is located in a Tauber loop that we run out on the impact slope. Our next highlight is the Trinity Chapel at the northern end of town, which can also be visited. At the war memorial there is another panorama before we cross the next ridge. Now we have reached the district of Waldenhausen. Here, too, the Tauber makes a huge arc. For this we hike along the slope of a panorama path. It's beautiful, of course, but the sun is really hitting us in the face, so protect yourself. From here it is only 2 kilometers to Wertheim. When you reach the city with 23,000 inhabitants, you have also reached the northernmost city of BW at the same time. Now you have the opportunity to look at the city with its beautiful old town or you can inquire about the castle above. I recommend you do both. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time in mind when I got an ice cream as a reward, so I couldn't see the city as well as I would have liked. We went back to Mergentheim with the €9 ticket you can imagine Highlights: ⭐Bronnbach Monastery ⭐Chapel over Reichholzheim ⭐Panorama ⭐Wertheim Castle ⭐Wertheim Conclusion: A really beautiful hike. Something for everyone. Maybe you're smarter than me and don't do them at 30°. But Wertheim fully rewards you for your effort

Caution! As of mid-February 2022, the path from km 4.0 to km 4.9 is closed due to tree felling and is actually impassable. There are thick beech trunks on the way and sometimes whole crowns on the way. So it's better to wait a month or two before running it - or reschedule this part. After the weather gods had already prepared rain and strong wind for the coming days, the mud shoes wanted to have another day out today. So get on the train and off to Wertheim. In the category "Germany away from the high mountains", the tour should end up very high in my private ranking this year. I was particularly impressed by the many old stone terraces that testified to centuries-old viticulture. In the vinotheque along the way, you can see for yourself that this tradition continues to this day. And that too at a high level. When I came out again, my small hiking backpack was a kilo heavier

After my break bench above Reicholzheim, there were more benches, also with better views.

Another truly memorable tour, a fantastic blend of nature and ancient ruins. I hadn't yet visited Wertheim Castle. It's definitely worth a visit! And the garden of the monastery café is a wonderful place to sit. The path between Wertheim and Reicholzheim, with its views of the Tauber River below, was simply superb. A highly recommended hike! 🤩🤩
