The striking Grünten is a real landmark for the area.

A perfect alternative to the noisy route in the valley floor (Oberstdorf - Sonthofen). The route also offers a constant, stunning panorama all the way to the Tannheimer Valley.

Climb to Missen

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Good for a ride downhill. Not on the bike path, but on the road. Good surface, nice view.

Martinszell–Oberdorf switchbacks

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This used to be a section of the Allgäu Triathlon. An easy-to-ride section that leads via switchbacks from Martinszell to Oberdorf near Immenstadt.

Descent to Ottacker

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

I love this descent. The title should be taken with a grain of salt. The upper part of Albis is great for running and I have done it myself several times. I live in Kempten and pass by often. You should brake at the latest at the left bend before Ottacker. The following right bend gets steeper and at the beginning of the town there are a few farm entrances.

Actually a wonderful Allgäu tour, just as it is in the book, or should be. Actually. But this special version, which I have from a Kommot collection with the title "The 20 most beautiful road bike tours in the Allgäu", must have been manipulated by local jokers who then regularly look at the clueless people on the climb from Hüttenberg …

The tour is really great, but next time I will skip the section from Hüttenberg to the front of Hüttenberg. It is 1.5 km with an average gradient of 16%. There are only a few people who can do that on a racing bike, and I am certainly not one of them. Next time I will either go via Biehlerdorf to Gunzesried
