The Malerwinkel is a popular viewpoint on the north shore of the Königssee. From there, you have a fantastic view of the entire length of the Königssee with the St. Bartholomä pilgrimage church.

From the boat landing stage at Königssee, turn left past the boat houses along the wide hiking trail to the viewpoint. The circular route continues on an easy path through a mixed mountain forest to the valley station of the Jennerbahn. From there, you can return to the Königssee car park.

REQUIREMENTS: Hiking boots, feasible even for inexperienced hikers

Please note that the difficulty ratings on tour portals and signposts in the terrain may differ. Your tour planning should be adapted to your physical condition, which is why we ask you to always consider all factors and not to ignore the signs in the terrain!

The difficulty ratings on the signposts in the terrain correspond to the path categories of the DAV (German Alpine Club). This tour is marked in blue and is therefore considered an easy mountain path. The paths are often narrow and can have steep sections, but there is no danger of falling.

Arrival by public transport (often free with the guest card of the valley communities; exceptions possible):
It is best to get off at the "Königssee" stop. From there, it is only a few meters (approx. 350 m) on foot.

Boatyard Koenigssee:
The part of the company with the highest turnover employs around 80 people. All 19 passenger boats have been powered purely electrically since 1909. The electricity for this comes from the batteries in the hull of the boat. In order for the boats to be able to operate for a whole day, the batteries must be charged overnight.

During the winter months, the employees in the driving service work in their trained professions as boat builders, joiners, carpenters, painters, electricians, saddlers or locksmiths. Then the boats are repaired or rebuilt. The boats, which are predominantly made of wood, but also the 16 huts covered with wooden shingles require a high financial and personnel repair effort. However, this is often used in order to preserve the characteristics and charm of the lake in the national park.

The train service at Königssee is all year round.

Attention: Do not follow the narrow path that follows from the Malerwinkel along the banks of the Königssee. This is an old trail, which is now decayed and a great danger of falling!
