Stausee Tafeltour

On the Losheimer Tafeltour not only expect great views over the hilly Saarland, but also the peaceful Losheimer reservoir and the natural wetland around the Metzerbach.

The Losheimer table tour starts at the large trail parking lot on the eastern shore of the reservoir of the same name. From here you follow the signposted hike northwards and then along the lakeshore.

On the west bank you leave the reservoir and wander for a short while through the meadow landscape of the Losheimer Bach. Soon, the trail turns right and leads you to a freely accessible Kneipp facility with paddling pool.

From here, the table tour runs through the picturesque Bachtal valley of the Metzerbach, which you cross several times on simple footbridges. The path leads you gently uphill to the headwaters of the creek on an old, abandoned quarry.

Now you hike through the dense forest on. Soon, the forest clears and gives you the view of the village Scheiden, which is the highest village in the Saarland. On the outskirts of the village you will find some wooden loungers, which invite you to a cozy rest with a wonderful view.

Afterwards the table tour leads you downhill through the forest back to the starting point of the hike. The tour ends with a visit to the restaurant Maison au lac on the banks of the Losheim reservoir.
