Very nice tour. A somewhat strenuous climb, otherwise a very relaxed tour. At the end of the tour there is a beautiful wooden lounger for a relaxing end with a view of the valley.
Ice Age Trails 5/20 ✅️ The 13.8 km long Lauterfelsensteig starts and ends at Herrlingen train station, so it's perfect if you want to travel by train. I had actually imagined something completely different. For a stretch you walk through the Kleine Lautertal with a few rocks, in Lautern is the source of the Kleine Lauter, but that's all the highlights. I can still absolutely recommend the tour, because the paths are so wonderful that you don't need any highlights. Beautiful little trails through forest and meadows, and no one around except two people walking the dogs. I also had two beautiful animal sightings again, I was too slow for the deer, shortly afterwards something like a small weasel came running towards me, it only saw me about 3 meters in front of me and stopped. I cursed my stupid cell phone camera again, because the animal was really cute and I'd never seen it before. I edited the photo a bit and put it at the end, so you can at least see a little bit. In Herrlingen I was lucky in my misfortune. I was just buying a few snacks at Netto when it started pouring with rain and I was able to sit comfortably in the warm and dry train that was already there.
On this lovely walk, we were able to fully enjoy the perfect autumn weather today 🤗 The small Lautertal valley is always worth a visit; today, even the idyllically situated Gasthaus Lamm was open, and we could enjoy the sun while sitting outside 😃 I got the inspiration for this tour from the lovely @Henni 🏞 Thank you 🥰👋
Hello 🙋Ömchen out and about with @Annett again today 😊Thank you so much Annett for this beautiful day 😘 We started from the train station 🚉 Herrlingen to walk the ice age path ☺️ past an art nouveau villa and the pavilion "Temple" we came to the Maria-Hilf-Chapel 💒 through the small Lautertal on shady paths we then came to the source 💦 of the little Lauter 🤩 where we also took our break 😋 then it went up a steep path nuff 👆 past Hohenstein ☺️ where we went straight back into the shady forest 🌳 ☺️ we came to Weidach to the St. Wendelin chapel and from there we went back into the forest 🌳 to the Mohrenköpfle (yeah, it's still called that 🤭) then a nice path went down through the heathland with a great view of the St. Andreas Church 💒 Have a nice evening 🙋🙋 ♂️ and greetings from Öpchen 🙋 ♂️
From Herrlingen train station, the trail leads gently uphill along the Erwin Rommel Trail, then continues through a beautiful forest until you reach the beautiful Chapel of St. Mary Help of Christians with its Stations of the Cross. If the chapel is open, a visit to the interior is worthwhile. See also https://se-blautal.drs.de/st-andreas-herrlingen/unsere-kirchen/maria-hilf-kapelle.html Then, the trail descends back into the valley of the Kleine Lauter River and along the valley path, with views of the rock caves opposite, to the spring. The amount of water flowing from the rock is impressive. The inn with an outdoor area, located directly by the spring, is a great place for a rest. The forest path then climbs steeply but only moderately long through the forest to the top. Always following the ridge, it continues through a beautiful forest and briefly through the village of Weidach before descending back to the starting point.
Today the goal was the spring pot of the Kleine Lauter. So we mainly followed the Lauterfelsensteig to the source, where we had coffee and a piece of cake. We returned to Herrlingen via the abandoned Lauterstein Castle and Oberherrlingen Castle. The sun was our constant companion and not only attracted us to the Lauter.
By train via FN and Ulm to Herrlingen Blaustein. Walked the Lauterfelsensteig from the train station, which is part of the ice age paths. In a constant up and down it goes into the beautiful Lautertal and to the source of the Lauter. After a steep ascent we went to Weidach then through forests back to Herrlingen.
