What can you do when there's a thunderstorm warning? Head up to the mountain pastures⛈️🍺😎
Girls' Tour Day 7: Today is our last day in the Tyrolean Lech Valley. It always feels like leaving home when I have to leave again. But I don't want to dwell on those thoughts at the start of the day. I've planned a hike in the Hornbach Valley for "my ladies" and me today. We want to walk from Hinterhornbach to the Petersbergalm and back. The alpine pasture is opening today for the first time this year. We want to take advantage of that, even though it's a Saturday. Normally, I wouldn't do this tour on weekends. The trail isn't difficult, the Hornbach Valley is charming, and the alpine pasture is well-managed, which attracts many visitors. We're really enjoying this hike, even though the weather throws us the occasional light shower. On the way back, we even get some sunshine! All in all, it was a good way to end the day by visiting the "little brother" of the great Lech. Of course, we were also practically immersed in the river landscape. A stone absolutely had to be found and taken with us! See you next time! (Sniffer)
My good soul is slightly bruised, but willing to take risks. A real mountain tour wasn't possible, but a longer hike was possible. The various weather apps did not agree. While WetterOnline predicted rain for the Lech Valley, Bergfex Wetter, which is more reliable for the Alpine region, promised cloud but otherwise no precipitation. So we made a bet and drove to Hinterhornbach via the Lech Valley. And indeed the rain had stopped in the meantime and the clouds were beginning to break up. The Petersbergweg leads along the Hornbach to the Petersbergalm as a well-maintained gravel path, initially with asphalt. You only notice that it leads steadily uphill on the last kilometer and on the way back. It leads through the valley of the Hornbach, which has dug itself deep into the rocks near Hinterhornbach, but further up imitates its big brother Lech with a wide bed of gravel. We didn't have glorious weather, rather it started to rain a few drops here and there. The low-hanging clouds with their gaps in the sun gave the valley landscape between Urbeleskarspitze, Bretterkarspitze, Schreierkopf and Schöneckerkopf on the south side, Marchspitze,öfferspitze and Kreuzeck on the western end of the valley and Muttekopf, Kanzberg and Kanzfünfe on the north side a particularly dramatic atmosphere. And of course there is the Hochvogel, which resides above Hinterhornbach. The heavy rain the day before also meant that every few hundred meters the next waterfall could be admired. The waterfall of the Faule-Wand-Bach between the Bretterkarspitze and the Schreierkopf and the Salbach-Fall near the Kanzberg stand out in particular. The uncertain weather also had the advantage that we were the first hikers of the day to arrive at the Petersbergalm. The innkeeper probably no longer expected a larger rush of visitors, so the snack plate we ordered was correspondingly powerful... so we got full... 😋😄 As a reward, we brought good weather to the Petersbergtal. The previously dramatic mountain world now appeared in a completely different light, in the truest sense of the word, as the clouds opened up more and more and let the blue sky shine through. More and more hikers and bikers dared to go down into the valley when we made our way back to Hinterhornbach. The Gasthof Adler in Hinterhornbach has a fine kitchen, but it is cold between 2 and 5 p.m. with the exception of the soup pot. Just in time (😅) we managed to round off today's gourmet day with the wonderful Kaiserschmarrn or blueberry pancake. Anyone traveling in the Lech Valley must also dare to venture into its side valleys. A tip is Hinterhornbach with the extension Petersbergweg. The road to Hinterhornbach is a bit long, but at the latest it rewards the avalanche gallery with a great mountain panorama of the Allgäu Alps. The Petersbergweg is open to cyclists and is easy to ride. Pictures in the Komoot highlights and the Alm's large beer garden also show that many bikers are now aware of this. So expect crowds on weekends with good weather. Oh yes, I had paused the recording on the alp, which I only noticed on the way back when I saw the wire huts, a picturesque collection of small houses. Hence this dead straight line... 😅
The title is a bit misleading, because here we are in the Hinterhornbachtal. But the Alm is called Petersbergalm and there is ski water with bubbles or from our own spring. And the source is in the valley not on the mountain.😁 The Alm is a great mountain bike destination. Also suitable for tours and gravel bikes. - Except maybe on weekends in the high season. The vacation is over now, it was a great action. I'll comment on the photos these days and will also add a few. 🖐👍🐸🐧🐬🐿👣❤🙏 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZSrpmzlpm4 also interesting
After visiting the lady's slipper flower, we went from Hinterhornbach to the Petersberg Alm. So far we have only walked the path in bad weather (rain). Since it was our last hike in the Lech Valley for the time being, we chose this pasture for our farewell tour. The path is easy to walk, but a nice tour through the meadows and the forest. This time there was a snack board as a reward.
A great Alm the Petersbergalm ... with the best cottage cheese spaetzle I know
Forest path to the PetersbergAlm, back on footpath...very good food...
