Hiking
If you like to combine hiking and eating, the Geierwally circuit might be for you. On this leisurely circular hike, you pass two rustic refreshment stops: Kasermandl and Gibler Alm. The almost seven-kilometer circular hike is topped off with a few beautiful views of the Lechtal Alps and shady sections through quiet forests.
You start at the Geierwally parking lot in Elbigenalp and past the open-air stage you leave the place. Now a decent ascent is waiting for you. Almost 400 meters in altitude have to be overcome in the first two kilometers. For this you can strengthen yourself for the first time directly above. In the Kasermandl you can choose from many classics of Austrian cuisine.
It then goes much more level into the wild and romantic Bernhardstal. There are always beautiful views waiting for you. Finally you cross the Bernhardsbach and make your way back on the other side of the valley. From now on it goes downhill and soon after you reach the Gibler Alm. Freshly strengthened, you then tackle the last kilometer back to Elbigenalp.

P - Elbigenalp large 🅿️ - Geierwally parking lot 3€/day. Just up from the 🅿️ you will pass the carving school. There to the first yellow hiking signs - we Kasermandl - hut was still on the way. the nice weather. However, from October 1st. thus thinner because there are no more hikers there. Here you should really inquire beforehand in order to have provisions. 😇 However, on the forest path 🥾, not an impressive route. After about 3/4 hours we got to the hut much too early (11 a.m.), so we continued... to the Gibleralm. 🏕️From Kasermandl the path becomes more intimate, narrow through the forest and over a gravel bed. Various small bridges are also crossed. The path downhill is still nice at the beginning, then from Gibleralm it's a forest road again - the advantage is that it's accessible in winter and the alpine pasture is open. No difficulties on the way, doable for everyone. ⛰️🥾
Used the short time on vacation to go on a tour. The tour goes over the Kasermandl Steig to the hut with great views of the valley. A short rest in the Kasermandl mountain hut before continuing on to the rest of the route, which requires a head for heights and sure-footedness, and further into the valley.
Today we went from Elbingeralb to the Geierwally circular hiking trail. Unfortunately, the Kaiseralm was closed today. It was still a great tour.
The Geierwally circular trail in Elbigenalp is a scenic hiking route that leads through the impressive landscape of the Lech Valley. This moderately difficult route stretches for about 7-8 kilometers and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The trail is named after the legendary Geierwally, a well-known figure in the region, and leads past incredible waterfalls and natural monuments. Ideal for hikers who want to combine nature and adventure, the circular trail is well signposted and can be completed in about 3 hours. The Kasermandl Speckhütte offers a great place to stop for a break after a good 3/4 of the route.
The start of our hike is the Parkpkatz at the Hotel Alpenrose in Elbigenalp. The parking fee is 3€ per day. We shortened the circular route a bit and after our stop at the Kasermandl we walked a nice path through the forest back to the parking lot.
The Berghütte Kasermandl is a beautiful hut with super friendly people. hosts!
