A beautiful walk, the surface makes it easy to walk on even after a long period of rain. We couldn't see very far through the November fog, but it had enveloped the landscape wonderfully gently. But see for yourself. We then walked through a few streets to look at the bright spots in Ober-Ingelheim.
Today the circular hike Ingelheimer Auslese was on the program. A really fine hike that was a lot of fun. Start was at the castle church in Ober-Ingelheim. We hiked the tour clockwise because we wanted to stop at the Waldeck inn at the Bismarkturm. Unfortunately (as of March 11th) company holidays. It also didn't say how long the holidays were. Who wants to take a look at the tigers. These currently only receive visitors on Saturday and Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. These times can certainly change again when the company holidays are over. If you want to go to the tiger feeding, this takes place on Sunday at 3 p.m. and costs 4 euros. You have to register beforehand. A tour that we will most likely do again. 12.5km *** 272m up/down 3:45 h including / 3:19 h excluding breaks Almost perfectly marked panoramic hike including the southern districts of Ingelheim. On the way on mostly wide Wingerts and field paths, but also sometimes on asphalt (also outside of town), starting from Großwinternheim there are initially wonderful views over the Westerberg and ahead into the Rheingautaunus, e.g. with the famous Eibingen monastery near Eibingen and the Niederwald monument. Rather inconspicuous on the other side of the Rhine in front of us, to the left of the turret of the Hallgarter Zange, is the Kalter Herberge, the largest mountain in the Rheingau-Taunus. After a rather superfluous loop through Ober-Ingelheim, it goes, among other things, through a Hohlgasse to the Bismarck Tower, then along the hill with repeatedly opening views into Rheinhessen in the direction of Mainz (Mainz itself cannot be seen, but parts on the left on the other side of the Rhine Once you have reached Westehaus Castle, the final, not too steep descent takes you back to Großwinternheim a little later. Rest: There are enough benches on this tour. As far as places to stop off are concerned, walking the loop through Ober-Ingelheim gives you the feeling that you are being forced to stop off at the wineries. In other words: there are some here, but also at the Bismarck Tower and in Großwinternheim. Directions: First of all, it should be mentioned that the fairground at the castle church in Ober-Ingelheim is the official start. For public transport users, this is definitely the best option next to ours in Großwinternheim. Car ==> Those arriving by car have a few parking spaces in the vicinity of the official starting point and three other hiking parking spaces right on the side of the path. This includes the one at the Bismarckturm, which is also the official starting point of the Hiwweltour Bismarckturm (follow the signs for Waldeck), and the Hermannshof car park next to it (also follow the signs for Waldeck - after a few curves, a narrow asphalt road branches off to the left in a right-hand bend, follow this. Our car park is the one at the sports field in Groß Winternheim (on maps you can currently find it under the search term Wanderparkplatz Großwinternheim) - GW is on the L428 from Ingelheim in the direction of Nieder-Olm. After the roundabout at the entrance to the town, a little later, directly after the first S-curve - opposite a bus stop - the road branches off with a right-hand bend down to the sports field. Public transport ==> As mentioned above, there are two ways to get on the tour. Either the Marktplatz stop in Ober-Ingelheim or the Schloßbergstraße stop in Großwinternheim. Both are right on the circular tour. Please find out lines and travel times yourself, since there was a far-reaching restructuring of lines and routes in Rheinhessen just a few months ago. The previous line 75 of the Mainzer Verkehrsbetriebe, for example, with which this tour was easy to reach, no longer exists, but is still displayed on some maps. To what extent there is a corresponding replacement is beyond our knowledge. But the points should still be easily accessible from the Ingelheim train station.
Very nice route around the Selztal. Started at the castle church and walked towards the Bismarck Tower. Up at the heights around the Westerhaus Stud it sometimes looks like the Nordic farms of my childhood. Unfortunately, it was not possible to stop at the wine shop at Schloss Westerhaus, and we were ignored despite a prior email. It's a shame, I'll probably put this winery out of my head then. The way back via Groß Winternheim is for sun-seekers, actually a route for the autumnal season. The impressions of the walls in Ingelheim are always great.
A very beautiful tour through the vineyards of Ingelheim and the old town. We parked near the castle church. There are many rest stops along the way, although some are without shade on hot days.
After I first had to repair the storm damage to the garden shed this morning and my sweetheart has a "back", there was only a small but very fine tour today. It started at the sports field in Großwinternheim. Up to Westerhaus Castle and then on the ridge to the Bismark Tower. Then down into the Selztal and back up to the beautiful castle church in Alt Ingelheim and then back through the vineyards to the starting point. And before the drive home, a great and extensive wine tasting. And all this with a great woman by your side, Wanderer what more do you want?
Today it was supposed to be a shorter lap in front of the front door and the Ingelheim selection had been on my list for a long time. The official description is below. For me personally it was a great and varied tour, even if I knew most of it either from the Hiwweltouren or the bike. Of course, the castle church in Ingelheim is particularly impressive. And for a great conclusion, we are still at the spring tasting at the Merl winery. The weather held up except for a brief hailstorm. https://www.ingelheim-erleben.de/route-ingelheimer-auslese-alles-was-ingelheim-ausmacht A selection offers the best of everything: nature, cultural landscape, history, far-reaching views and culinary delights. The elite of Ingelheim can be explored on this tour. If you want to know what characterizes the natural and cultural landscape of Ingelheim, you will find the answer on the "Ingelheimer Auslese" round trip. Historical buildings such as the castle church in Ober-Ingelheim or the imposing Westerhaus Castle, the picturesque district of Großwinternheim with the stately courtyards from the 12th century, vineyards and fruit trees, wide panoramic views of the Rheingau and the romantic Selz Valley. The many facets of the Rheinhessen region can be explored on this varied tour. The steep ascents to the Mainzer Berg and the Westerberg require a certain level of fitness, but are rewarded with a fantastic view. And of course collected a few kilometers again for https://www.bewegunghilft.de/ - unfortunately I couldn't do more because I'm a bit restricted in terms of movement at the moment - but movement actually helps
