The circular hike to the Ahlertsberg, signposted with the code letter B 4, starts from the center of Banfe, from which there are two peaks: the small Ahlertsberg (595m) and the large Ahlertsberg (645m).
It is best to start counter-clockwise and first hike into the small Auerbachtal. Past the Steimel (512m), follow the course of the stream until you arrive at the foot of the Ahlertsberg - at the so-called Struth - and turn north from here.
With beautiful views of the still young Lahntal near Bad Laasphe, it goes over soft forest floor to the highest point of the circular hiking trail B 4 at 623m above sea level on the eastern slope of the great Ahlertsberg. From here the hike only leads downhill back into the Banfe valley.
