Today I ran a lap that I had planned for 2021 but somehow hadn't managed to do yet, because 😉 there's always something 😀 The tour was really nice and now I know why it's one of @Kaktus&Edelweiß🌵🏔's favorite laps that we unfortunately haven't heard from in a long time 😢😀 I wish everyone who reads this a nice rest of their Sunday 🙂👍
The tour actually started off quite well – through the spa gardens and along a path toward the cliffs. Then I went straight back in the wrong direction, which meant I lost a lot of extra meters. 🙈 Back on track, I headed uphill past the Oberhundem cliffs, onto the Rothaarsteig trail, and on toward the Alpenhaus. Almost exclusively forest paths, I'd already mentally crossed off the stars. But then it got quite nice on the donkey path back to Oberhundem. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Today I hiked a Rothaarsteig trail in the best conditions. The 800 meters of the Rothaarsteig were familiar, the rest was new. The climbs were quite challenging, I wouldn't want to do the route the other way round. The views and the donkey path are particularly beautiful. The Alpenhaus is also recommended! Everything is well suited if you fancy a great three-hour tour. 😊
Oberhundemer mountain tour, nice to hike, still plenty of shade, rest at the Alpenhaus and back down into the valley via donkey paths.
In Oberhundem the path is closed due to a large construction site and there are no signs. A very friendly local resident helped us out. 2 streets further on the diversion through the construction site is signposted again. After we hiked up a steep, long path, the path disappears again due to forestry work (seems to have happened a while ago...) Sign gone, path gone. Continue on a detour via a forest path. Beautiful paths follow for a short time, then it's just a forest highway. At the end there is another short path.
On Sunday we went on a hike on the Rothaarsteig trail "Bergtour Oberhundem" in the best weather. 🌞 We started directly in Oberhundem at the Haus des Gastes, where there is also a kind of entrance portal for this route. The route was varied and took us over the mountains east of Oberhundem, where we simply followed the black sign of the Rothaarsteig trail. There were great views of the surrounding mountains again and again along the route. The path took us past the Oberhundemer Klippen, a rock formation that was somewhat hidden in the forest below the path. Part of the path also ran along the Rothaarsteig itself. We treated ourselves to a rest at the Gasthaus Alpenhaus. There they offer chilled drinks for self-service - perfect for refreshing yourself and enjoying the beautiful view on the terrace. 🏞️ After another 3 km we reached Oberhundem again. Overall, the tour was very nice: a varied, well-signposted route with many great viewpoints. 😊
The start and finish is at the guest house. A certain level of fitness is recommended for this tour. https://www.rothaarsteig.de/de/open-data-hub-touren/rothaarsteig-spur-oberhundemer-bergtour
🙈 Koomt, what can I say..... problems with photo settings again. It was a very beautiful, scenic mountain path in nature. Nicely walkable path and the donkey path was narrow but also good to walk. We also had beautiful dry weather 🥰
