Mountain biking

The Fernar Trail is our youngest long line and yet it is very different from the others. On the one hand, you don't reach the trailhead by cable car, but by shuttle, and on the other hand, this trail is a 100 percent natural trail or hiking trail. You will love it if you like alpine trails, are not afraid of rocky passages and also feel comfortable in tight hairpin bends. You should also have physical strength and a tried and tested riding technique on this trail.

The bike shuttle takes you from the parking garage at the Gaislachkoglbahn over the Ötztaler Gletscherstraße up to a high alpine world. From the parking lot at Tiefenbachferner you start the trail adventure ahead of you. Right from the start it is clear that the trail demands soulful riding: shifting weight, putting it into practice, looking for the ideal line - these are the requirements that you face on the first six kilometers. Only towards the end does the trail get a bit easier. At Gasthof Gaislach, at the end of the trail, there are calories, fluids and a cozy bench with a great view.

You now continue the Long Trail on a piece of the Löple Trail, where you can take a breather. With the lower part of the Nene Trail, however, there is another technical test. The blocked trail then takes you to the final descent, the Broate Line, on which you complete the last few meters to Sölden.

Fernar Trail

Highlight • Trail

Anyone looking to take on an epic challenge in Sölden should definitely not miss the Fernar Trail. The key data alone is awe-inspiring. The start is at over 2,800 meters above sea level at the Tiefenbachferner glacier, and the almost 1,400 meters of descent down to Sölden give you an idea of what awaits you.

The technical difficulty and steepness of the terrain further make the trail an absolute challenge. Added to that are many exposed sections that will also challenge your mind.

In this light, it wasn't surprising that I preferred to push my bike on a few sections. The terrain is sometimes too exposed, and you'd be too remote in the event of a serious fall. Therefore, it's advisable to measure your risk.

Apart from that, the panorama and landscape you ride through are so impressive that a moderate pace promises more enjoyment.

Löple Trail

Highlight • Trail

In general, the Löple Trail is not too demanding, but a short, steep slope awaits you here anyway. Since it is otherwise quite flat, it is easy to drive in both directions. The Löple Trail is a shared trail, so please watch out for hikers and show consideration.

Broate Line (6027)

Highlight • MTB Park

As the name suggests, the “Broate Line” is “extra wide”. In principle, it is quite easy to drive, but the gravel should not be underestimated and in some places can lead to you losing grip under the tires if you are not careful. If you like it a little more challenging, you can switch from the Broate Line to the Schteckler Trail several times.
