If you stay at Camping HOCHoben you receive a free bus pass for the days you are there. From accross the campsite you can catch a free bus to Ankogelbahn (takes less than 10 minutes). From Ankogelbahn you can start a few different hikes or even take a cable cart up to enjoy views. Because it was our rest day we opted for the easy, flat hike towards Schwussnerhütte. First of all, the elevation profile from Niels' watch is wrong and it's only about 100 meters of climbing, so really easy. For us it was one of the easiest and most beautiful day hikes we have ever done. Definitely worth it to take a rest day in Mallnitz if you ask us!
... apparently there were no problems with drought here in summer. The vegetation is in great shape!
There is a large car park at Seebachtal - free of charge. The Ankogelbahn to Hannoverhaus also starts here. The Seebachtal is easy to walk through, cows and horses roam around here, so read the signs and it's best to stick to them 😜. A nature trail has been laid out, which leads pleasantly through the forest, with information boards and rest areas. There is a public toilet near the car park. You can stop off at the Schwussnerhütte, but overnight stays are not possible. This is also a good place to watch bearded vultures, so it's worth taking your binoculars with you! There are many waterfalls to see and you can cool off in the stream ❄️ The path continues from the Schwussnerhütte, you can climb up here, for example, and then it continues along a hunter's trail. There are also a few small caches to find here 🔎.
Our tour started in the rain today ☔ So we only took light luggage with us. The path along the Seebach valley was full of experiences. Free-roaming animals, low-hanging clouds that sometimes even revealed a glimpse of the snow-capped peaks. To the left and right, waterfalls thunder into the depths. At the Schwussner Hut we decided to take a narrow path along the Seebach. It was sometimes very wet here but beautiful.
Easy gallop in front of upcoming challenges.
The weather in the Hohe Tauern continues to be mystical. Today we headed directly from our base station to the Seebach Valley via the always fantastic nature trail.
Today again a little holiday tour .... but according to the motto: There is no such thing as bad weather 🙈 .... At the beginning we were lucky, on the way it started with small showers and shortly before the hut it rained continuously... .so the break at the hut took a little longer 😊 The return trip was then completely dry. I can highly recommend Seebachtal, a varied small tour that you can also do well in bad weather and is also easy to do with small children.
Starting point: 🅿️ opposite the "Alpenrose" inn Today, due to the critical weather conditions, we chose a hike that can easily be completed even in heavy rain 😀. The Seebach Valley, with the natural gem of Lake Stappitz, is one of the most beautiful high mountain valleys in the Hohe Tauern – a nearly flat valley floor, roaring waterfalls, the crystal-clear Seebach stream, and imposing peaks. The hiking trail to the lake is barrier-free and invites you to enjoy and experience nature. Information and recreation facilities of the National Park, as well as an adventure playground, make this hike an unforgettable nature experience for the whole family. There are hardly any inclines. At the end of the trail, the Schwussner Hut invites you to stop for a break. We enjoyed a hearty meal here 🤪 before returning to the starting point. Conclusion: A super beautiful, educational tour. 🙋♀️🙋♂️
