Annette von Droste-Hülshoff was one of the most important poets of the 19th century and also a composer. On this tour you will explore some of her life stations in the west of Münster. It is definitely worth reading some of her works before the tour, because then you will see a lot with different eyes.
You start the cycle tour on the promenade and leave the city at Gievenbeck. Shortly afterwards you will reach Haus Rüschhaus, which was built by Johann Conrad Schlaun. Annette von Droste-Hülshoff lived here after her father's death.
The path leads you past other country estates and castles in this typical Westphalian park landscape. The most important highlight of this tour is Hülshoff Castle. The well-preserved and romantic moated castle is the birthplace of the poet. There you will find a museum dedicated to Annette Droste-Hülshoff and a café.
After the extensive visit, you drive on beautiful, lonely paths further west around Münster. Before you return to the city, there are still a few highlights on your way, such as the all-weather zoo and the Mühlenhof open-air museum.
