Hiking
The tour to the Hochalmspitze is a comparatively leisurely circular route, which in spite of everything does not save on wonderful views and lush nature. Adults as well as younger hikers who are looking for sunny paths and one or two rest stops have come to the right place.
It starts in a cabin of the Reiterkogelbahn (saalbach.com/de/service/infrastructure/d1-reiterkogel-br-bahn_a_1588). With it you can get up to your starting point without any major effort and after the tour also back down to Saalbach - but more on that later.
Now you first follow a forest road towards Rosswaldhütte. Past a pretty chapel and over a small wooden bridge you will soon dive into the Rosswald. Then you finally begin to climb up to the Hochalmspitze over the wonderful alpine pasture.
At the summit you should first enjoy the view. The modern cross that sits enthroned up there is also a great photo opportunity. When you are ready, a hiking trail, which later turns into a forest road, leads you first past the Hinterreichkendlhütte and then via the Rosswaldhütte back to your starting point.

This route was planned by komoot.
Not a long distance, but challenging nonetheless. The paths were muddy and steep. Once at the top, the views were beautiful.
The ascent takes place with the Reiterkogelbahn. Then you walk along the forest road (on this you will find the amusing marble runs, fun for young and old) in the direction of the Rosswaldhütte, then in the direction of the chapel and below this to the right over the ditch. (small bridge) Now through the Rosswald steeply uphill and then a little steeper over alpine terrain to the summit. A 360 degree panorama of superlatives is revealed at the summit. The descent is via a hiking trail to the non-serviced Hinterreichkendlhütte and via the forest road first to the Rosswaldhütte and further back to the starting point of the Reiterkogelbahn. But before that, it is worth visiting the Wieseralm, there are very good alcohol-free refreshments here. Kind regards, Üwchen D. from Bautzen an der Spree
Let's go hiking in Hinterglemm! Yesterday the weather was really bad, so the alternative was swimming. At the beginning of the tour the weather was good, only to later change to rain and fog and then to be good again. It started with the whole gang from the mountain station of the Reiterkogelbahn. Past the Rosswaldhütte and then over the mountain path up to the summit of the Hochalmspitze at 1921 m. Down it went back past the Rosswaldhütte, through the Rosswald to the alpine cinema. But since we also wanted to eat something, we went to the associated Pfefferalm. As usual, the food and drinks were great! From here it went back to Hinterglemm via the hiking trail. Due to construction work, the route between the Reiterkogelbahn mountain station and Rosswaldhütte has been changed (as it was last year!). This also applies to the way back. The path through the Rosswald was closed, but the corresponding signs were only at the other end of the path.
