Every avid mountain biker should have taken the legendary Slickrock Trail under the tunnels once in a lifetime. However, beginners better keep their hands off the trail. Both the small number of kilometers and the altitude difference give the wrong picture of the Slickrock circuit. You will need two to three hours for the supposedly "short" lap. Take enough water with you and look forward to a unique MTB experience.
Long before the invention of the mountain bike, motorcyclists created the Slickrock Trail in 1969. Today it attracts more than 200,000 mountain bikers annually. The special thing about this trail is the surreal environment. The seemingly endless hilly landscape with its bizarre rock formations is unique on earth.
Because it is always extremely steep uphill and downhill, the Slickrock Trail is really exhausting. The incredibly steep climbs are easy to master with the right amount of power in the legs, thanks to the unbelievably good traction through the sandstone. You will be surprised what can be driven. About halfway through the tour, there is a great view of the famous Colorado River and Arches National Park.
If you don't have a lot of time, you can alternatively turn onto the almost three-kilometer practice lap shortly after the Slickrock Trailhead.
