The hike to the Gantakopf is a genuine panorama tour. You hike up to the summit via rustic mountain paths and enjoy a fantastic view of the Montafon mountain world from the top. The day hike is rounded off with a visit to Alpe Nova. Here you will be spoiled with homemade delicacies. The best specialty is the Montafoner Sura Kees, which is produced on the alpine hut itself.
From St. Gallenkirch, take the chairlift up to the idyllic alpine village of Garfrescha. This is where your ascent to the Gantakopf begins. First, you hike across lush alpine meadows and then follow the path into a dense mountain forest. The path winds steadily uphill along the wide ridge, and you quickly gain altitude. Soon you reach the tree line, and a fantastic mountain panorama opens up before you. The path flattens out a bit, and after a short, final ascent, you are standing on the Gantakopf.
When you have had your fill of the 360-degree view, follow the hiking trail down towards the valley. Shortly before the Nova Stoba mountain restaurant, you will reach a wide gravel path that leads you in wide switchbacks to Alpe Nova. After refueling at the alpine hut, follow the hiking trail back to Garfrescha through the wildly romantic Novatal valley. Here you take the chairlift back down and float comfortably down to St. Gallenkirch.
