Today we headed to Saarland to cycle through the Bliesgau region to Lorraine and Sarreguemines. This route was very varied, with parts passing through forests, fine gravel paths, and old railway lines... all perfect. The trails were really great, even if there were some really steep climbs. Unfortunately, there weren't many sights to discover, and Sarreguemines was a bit of a disappointment. The nature and the bike paths were the highlights of the tour. A pleasant experience came at the end of the tour when we stopped at the Bierbach Forest Inn. Every week, a handful of older gentlemen (the oldest was 88) meet there to sing and play old folk songs. This way, we had some musical accompaniment to our meal. Even though the Forest Inn doesn't seem to be up to date, the schnitzel was delicious and the landlady very nice. The "Old Boys" (as the older gentlemen call themselves) were the icing on the cake, and so another beautiful day came to an end. What more could you want...
Today we drove to Saarland and started a bike ride from Blieskastel. 🚴♀️ The tour was unspectacular but still beautiful. We crossed the border into France on well-maintained bike paths, where we had the worst cappuccino ever in Saargemünd. 🤷♂️😝 After this disappointing experience, we quickly headed back to Germany. We finished our tour at a forest tavern in Bierbach. It may be very unassuming from the outside, but the inside was very rustic and rugged, but also very entertaining and delicious. Great weather, delicious food, beautiful bike paths, what more could you want from a cyclist's heart? 🤗👍
Another (challenging) tour by Saarland Touristik, start and finish moved to Sarreguemines due to travel by Saarbahn. https://www.urlaub.saarland/Media/Touren/Grosse-Bliesgau-Biosphaeren-Runde
It was a very nice tour with tour guide Andrea. At first, the weather was fantastic, 🌞but after the break in Sarreguemines, the sky gradually darkened ☁️and it looked like it was going to rain. 🌧After the Heidenkopf Tower, it only took a short time for God to provide us with plenty of hydration 🌧🌧from above. From Ormesheim to Blieskastel, there was a downpour ⛈️ that soaked us to the skin.😬 Luckily, I was wearing sandals, so at least the water didn't get in my shoes 😂😂😂
