‘Hochgehbürzelt’ — HOCHGEHBERGE on the Swabian Alps

The splendid Bürzel viewpoint is located high above the Lautertal near Gundelfingen. Exciting paths above steep slopes await you. Sure-footed feet bring you fantastic views over hills and castle ruins.

You start at the Steighof hiking car park, where there is a barbecue area where you can culinary end your hike. At the fork you choose the left path and first walk over the Alte Steige through the forest and then on a gravel path through the pastures down into the valley. Once at the bottom of the Lauter, you can make a detour to an interesting cave house on the right side of the slope. You follow the course of the river to Gundelfingen, where you can stop off. Or you can take a short break behind the wooden bridge and cool your feet in the clear water of the Lauter.

Past the hill on which the Niedergundelfingen ruin is enthroned very prominently, you climb uphill in the forest to the edge of the Lautertal eaves. You follow this to the Bürzel viewpoint, where you can once again marvel at the Lautertal with Gundelfingen and its two ruins. From there it is only a short distance back to the starting point.
