Most of this hike is actually quite leisurely. Only towards the end is the ascent to Schachenberg really tough: a narrow path leads steeply up the slope and demands a head for heights and surefootedness of its hikers. You can look forward to the fantastic view from above.

The route starts at the Reichartsberg hiking car park. At first you walk fairly flat between meadows and fields to the historic boundary stone that once separated Württemberg from Fürstenberg. We continue a bit through fields until you come to a forest, through which you hike down to Bichishausen at the foot of the Schachenberg.

Here you come directly past the boathouse, where you can fortify yourself in the beer garden and also go on a canoe trip on the Lauter - if you want to go on a varied day trip. Once you have recharged your energy reserves, the crisp ascent follows: a steep path through a juniper heather brings you slowly up to a phenomenal view. Then it's just a little uphill back to the starting point.
