December 27, 2024, 🍂🐿Waldfreundeweg Bavenhausen🐿🍂

Finally again ☀️! Because my joints are still a bit sore, the Waldfreundeweg🐿🍂 is a good option, it's been on my to-do list for a long time. And it was worth it, a small but very nice route, quite varied. The signage is fine, sometimes a sign would be good, because after a few turns you start to wonder whether you're still on the right path🤔. The views were also really beautiful today, because the fog in the direction of the Weser💦 in the valley was like a tub🛁. It's a shame that the photos can't capture it so well. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Komootlers a peaceful and happy New Year 🥳

Start and finish: School parking lot at Teimer in Bavenhausen A different, longer tour was actually planned for Easter Monday, but the persistent rain only caused a 2-hour break today. Observing the rain radar intensively, we then spontaneously went to Lipperland on the Waldfreundeweg in Bavenhausen. To put it briefly: An all-round perfect hiking trail that does everything right in terms of experience, path profile, landscape and markings! By the way, the path is supervised by the “Naturschule am Teimer”! ❤️ That's why, according to the official map, it starts at exactly this school, which is also the only criticism of this route, because: Parking is not allowed on the school grounds on weekdays and there is an absolute ban on parking in the school area. It's just stupid that the hiking map is exactly where you're not allowed to park... Well, at least you can start here on the weekend without hesitation! It starts with a climb to the 326 m high Teimer. The teimer is a limestone ridge, which is therefore immersed in a sea of flowers, but at the same time becomes quite muddy in rainy weather. A wonderful path crosses the length of the entire ridge. In Rentorf the path turns sharply northwards and initially follows the Rentorfer Bach on a very beautiful path. By the way, it is always well marked with the cute, elaborate logo of the path with a fox and a rabbit. By the way, all the information boards are just as complex. After a small breeding facility, we go to the sports field, where the remains of the Easter fire are still blazing (and that after the recent rains 😯). It was actually really warm by the fire. Unfortunately, the bratwurst stand was no longer in operation. 😅 After a short visit to Bavenhausen, we walk across private property - or at least very close to it without a fence. However, the owner "threatens" to put up enough information boards to avoid getting lost on the property if possible. I can actually understand this. The route is not entirely clear here despite the navigation system. The next intermediate destination is the exposed Mühlenberg, to which a marked spur path leads. This detour should not be missed. The view is really awesome - despite the rain starting again! You can also take a leisurely rest here. By the way, the windmill is used in a very unusual way. Its interior has been gutted and now serves as an elevated water tank. Now on asphalt we go down to Bavenhausen to the village square. A restaurant nearby beckons you to enjoy a leisurely finish before the short climb back to school.

Part of the route appears to be closed. Above the school, there was a barrier over the Tiemer, but it wasn't clear to me... just for vehicles or for everyone? A local resident then suggested that the barrier after the tree felling had been forgotten... I could go that way. I was crossing the Tiemer alone, and the traces of the forestry work were older! There was also a barrier at the other end of the path, but this time it was clearly marked.

Our round today started at the Am Teimer Nature Park School in Bavenhausen. The Forest Friends Trail first led us through the nature reserve up to the 326 m high Teimer. The rustic paths through larkspurs, yellow anemones, violets and wood ringwort are beautiful. Downhill towards the south we passed a marl pit to the small town of Rentorf and after a short stretch on the road we turned left again into the forest along a stream and pond. Later at the edge of the forest we had a great view of the Bavenhausen windmill. When we arrived at the mill on the Windberg, a seating area and a landscape lounger invited us to take a break. The view up there of the Kalletal was fantastic. The path led us down the Holländerweg via the village square back to the starting point. The short tour with lots of sunshine was a good start to the week.
