The Sickinger Höhe forms the transition between the Palatinate Forest and the Landstuhler Bruch with its extensive moorlands near Bruchmühlbach-Miesau. Quiet forests, natural meadows, and striking sandstone rocks characterize the landscape. The legendary "Waldpfad" (Forest Trail) leads predominantly on shady paths through this varied nature and offers some views of…

Elendsklamm

Highlight • Gorge

The Elendsklamm is a great and interesting rock gorge. Particularly impressive are the step-like cascades, waterfalls, and bizarre sandstone rock formations that the Frohnbach has shaped over millennia.

February 12, 2022,Bruchmühlbach-Miesau - Sagenhafter Waldpfad
This time a tour after spontaneous (re)planning. Saturday sun is at its best when it's not behind clouds. It was still too cloudy for our actual destination in the morning - so we dug out a tour from the list without further ado.

The actual round trip is about 16.5 km long. The detour to the Hoher Fels viewpoint, in this case from the north, extends the route by about 0.8 km - the remaining 0.1 km to the total length of our tour are due to …

A beautiful hike, but unfortunately, some parts are poorly marked. It's possible that some idiots took the signs with them. If that's the case, I wish them all the best on future hikes.

At the end of the year we went on a very nice tour today, 99% of which went through the forest with wide paths and narrow paths.
A Komootler saved the tour for me a long time ago, thanks to him.
LG and everyone a happy new year.🥳🍾🥂🎉😊🙋🏻‍♀️

Highly recommended, what I found practically on my doorstep 🤩. A very varied path with some challenging sections. There were some viewpoints, two West Wall bunkers and some rocks, mostly along narrow paths. I was really impressed by the "main highlight", the Elendsklamm.

I have many memories of the town of Bruchmühlbach. My grandparents' house was here and when I was a student I commuted from the train station to Mannheim. However, I had never been to the Elendskamm and that has changed today. The tour had everything: beautiful views, tough climbs, a lot of forest, lots of water, a chapel and thousands …

When I was here in January, I didn't know about the cave very close to the Elendsklamm, so I did the tour again and added a detour to the Elendshöhle 😁. And once again, I was thrilled by the beautiful route.

Today we headed to the Palatinate Forest for the aforementioned tour.
A varied route, perfect for taking a shortcut if you want.
The Elendsklamm gorge is beautiful, but short-lived.
Benches were scarce in places, and when we needed one, there weren't any for ages.
The signs weren't there in some places, but we navigated with komoot, which also paused three …
