I would have loved to sit on my bike for a longer lap, but given the weather forecast I wasn't quite comfortable...🥺 Okay, so to Rietberg, where I haven't been for a long time. The place, located on the upper - still young - Ems, was first mentioned in the 9th century, received city rights in the 13th century and was in the following times, among other things, the count's residence and state capital. This heyday of the 16th and 17th centuries had a particularly strong impact on Rietberg. Today the place is a lively small town in the heart of Westphalia, whose inhabitants proudly call it the "town of beautiful gables". And that's by no means an exaggeration, because a great many (gabled) half-timbered houses from the Renaissance have been preserved and lovingly restored here. These make up the very special atmosphere of Rietberg, regardless of the symbiosis with the Ems and the former LaGa. In the town itself, various cafes and restaurants invite you to linger.
