To discover the Puccini cycle path, pedal out of the center of Lucca and in a few minutes you'll be above the Renaissance walls, which have remained intact for five centuries, today transformed into a long tree-lined park that embraces the entire city. From up there, Tuscany opens up before you without haste, and this is precisely the pace the route asks of you: slow and curious.
Descend towards the Serchio river and let the river be your guide through villages, cultivated fields, and corners of unspoiled nature. The landscape changes slowly, and every pedal stroke brings you closer to a world suspended between water and silence: that of Lake Massaciuccoli, where the walkways seem made just to make you slow down even more and listen to the sounds of the LIPU oasis that guards it.
It is here, amidst these very atmospheres, that Giacomo Puccini found inspiration for his most beloved operas. You can visit his birthplace in Lucca and then the villa in Torre del Lago, imagining the notes that were born while looking at the same lake that is now before you. Pedaling on the Ciclovia Puccini means this: harmony, music, relaxation. The return journey is retracing the cycle path back to Lucca.
