The first highlight on the Teuto Loop. Attentive visitors will spot the bursting bubbles that shoot from the bottom of the spring. An impressive rock formation towers above.

According to the information board, there are centuries-old cherry trees in the Teutoburg Forest region of Tuscany. It's best to visit when they're ripe.

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Duvensteine look a bit grim and rugged. It seems as if the rock has a mouth and eyes. It's understandable that our ancestors assumed that mysterious and divine forces were at work here.

May 4, 2026, Tecklenburger Land: Teutoschleife Holperdorper

This beautiful hike with its cheerful ups and downs is suitable for various seasons: during cherry blossom season, in spring when the forest shows its fresh green, but also in autumn when the leaves change color. We were already too late for the cherry blossoms, but the lush green of the forest in spring makes this hike very relaxing... pure forest bathing. On our loop, we pass a small "mini waterfall" that we completely overlooked, but also the gently bubbling Brueggelieth spring, which luckily has a large sign pointing to it. From there, it goes up the Aldruper Berg to the limestone quarry, which can be seen very well from above. After reaching the ridge of the Teutoburg Forest, the northern beauty of the Teutoburg Forest also reveals itself. Even though the cherry blossom season, for which the Holperdorper Tal is known, is already over, we experience the large and widely visible rapeseed fields in all their yellow splendor. With the Duvenstein, this route offers not only nature but also culture. The rock "Duvenstein" is considered a cult site where mother deities were worshipped. The Du-ve (ve = fairy = mother) is the dark mother, who was worshipped for wishes of children and fertility.

Since the first recording of the tour stopped at the refreshment stop and there are 2 tracks, this tour was re-planned here in komoot based on the actual route... small route deviations are partly missing here due to a lack of clear signage. Hike near Lienen in the Teutoburg Forest on the Holperdolper premium hiking trail 🥾

A Teuto loop rarely comes alone 😂 ... but it doesn't have the charm of the Tecklenburg mountain path. With the high proportion of deciduous trees, this tour should be hiked better with complete green cover. A highlight is definitely the visit to the Malepartus, a great mountain hut... repetition, this time with a stop is not excluded 😉

Hello, everyone! Holperdorper (Teuto Loop) From Lienen it goes up into the Teutoburg Forest with beautiful, different forest types. Forest edge stretches and open fields in the neighboring Osnabrück region alternate regularly. A few wide views complement the balanced hike. A successful premium circular hiking trail that is worthwhile in both directions (see German Hiking Institute / Premium hiking trails). LG and Fresh Up! Joe

Today we hiked this Teuto loop again for a long time. We were able to hike undisturbed, there were not too many hikers on the way. And we met Frama and her two companions at the Duwensteinen, a nice surprise. Shortly before the end of the hike, the break at the Malepatus was very good again!

Since I finally managed to hike one of the Teuto loops, true to the motto "Once there is no time", I made my way back to the north, more precisely to Lienen, where I got to know the "Holperdorper" made. 🙂 After arriving by train and bus, my way from the bus stop at the church "Seliger Niels Stensen" to Lienen led exactly one kilometer to the north to the town's indoor swimming pool, where the official start and finish point of this Teuto loop is located. ☝🏻 The path led two kilometers along the southern edge of the forest and to get warm only with slight ups and downs, before heading north over the entire ridge of the Teutoburg Forest past the limestone quarry of the Calcis back down into the Holperdorper valley, which the hiker did already demanded a lot. 😁 In the peasantry Holperdorp it was more or less through the fields to relax, then in the nature and geopark Terra Vita it got a bit more demanding again before the path to the second relaxation part led back down to Holperdorp. 👍🏻 Then the way back waited again over the entire ridge of the forest, which of course began with correct inclines, before the Hermannsweg was temporarily reached, on which it went to the nationally known beer garden of Malepartus. 🍺 Now the path led almost straight down again to Lienen, so that particular caution was required here, as the gradient is already enormous, but in the end there was another relaxed end on the southern edge of the forest back towards the indoor swimming pool. 😊 As an encore, there was the same kilometer back to the bus stop at the church as on the way there. 🏁

Is there actually a good directory of signposted circular hiking trails, throughout Germany, with parking information to get there? If not, can someone do it? I like tracking, but when I'm on the road I love following the signs and not constantly checking my phone or, even worse, letting the navigation system babble on. 🤣🙈
