This route is marked out by the NaturWanderPark delux (Germany Luxembourg) and follows the river Our on two sides. This relatively short walk surprises with nice rocky paths and somewhat wilder paths next to the Our. This walk finds a nice balance between spectacular and walkability (if that is an existing word). At the hamlet of Tintesmühle the river is crossed and it is mainly gravel roads that rule. Towards the end there is one climb of about seventy meters that goes up quite a bit. There the hiker is treated to a beautiful view. For the rest the altitude meters are quite doable. There are some paved roads, but the surroundings (in spring) are so beautiful that I don't make a point of it.
Europe trip 🗺 / 🥱🇧🇪🇱🇺🇩🇪🐿 https://www.naturwanderpark.eu/wanderwege/a-natour-route-1-dreilaendereck (incl. GPX file; note on the GPX: the starting point is different than that described in the text! 🤣) Own rating: 5 / 7⭐ Start / finish: free parking at the European monument Dreiländereck Ouren (50°07'50.0"N 6°08'11.4"E) Tour Highlights: - European Monument 🇪🇺 - through 3 countries - along the river Our - no traffic noise - lots of nature with a few exciting paths - Viewpoint Königslei - some nice views 🔭 Briefly summarized: - just bumped into an older couple - well signposted (except for a section at km 6.06, as two Nat'Our routes overlap here and the signposting does not apply to this route) - There were always seating options, but not that regularly 🪑 - Path condition: mostly paved paths, forest paths (+roots), some meadow, rocky paths and unfortunately many meters of asphalt (incl. road) I just don't get it - a "deluxe" trail doesn't include a 1km+ tarmac section, does it?! 🤨 In addition, there are the eternally long sections on paved paths through the forest - accompanied by the rushing of the Our with a few beautiful views, but I would have wished for a few more highlights, because it got a bit monotonous in between. 🤷🏼♀️ In 2-3 places I would have wished for my gravel bike to finish the section faster... 🚲 The tour itself is not demanding, except for the section through the natural forest reserve, which takes you up to the Königslei viewpoint. 🔭 But the minimal (if any) traffic noise should be positively emphasized 🤩 - although there is a street crossing and you walk along the street for a short time, there probably aren't that many cars driving along there... or I was just lucky. 😅 This tour will definitely get you maximum confusion with your cell phone provider! 📱
In the morning - so you have the one long and steady climb after 3km behind you The part on the German side runs along a wide paved path. The return via Luxembourgish side (a long part directly along Our) is partly narrow & slightly challenging (also runs together with the EP KALBORN for a few km) then it leads 2-3km before the finish line together with the itinerary of the AP LIELER (also a nice tour 😉) over macadam, until the last km turns once again along a dirt road, parallel to the macadam. Well-balanced & marked itinerary of officially 13km 👍🏻 I personally liked the return route from the Tentesmillen to the 3 Lännereck a little better Probably because of the water 😁 (I love water 🥰 - even if, like today 13/06/25, it's not so clear but rather brown🤷♀️)
The Nat'Our 1 starts from the European Monument in the Belgian municipality of Burg-Reuland near the village of Ouren. It is also the three-country point of Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg. We first cross the Our via the Georges Wagner Bridge. We follow the Our (German side) towards the south and climb towards Königslei and then descend again towards the valley. On the German side we mainly walk on wide paths. At Tintesmühle we cross the Our and then follow it in a northerly direction (Luxembourg side) back to our start and end point in Belgium. Here we walk on narrow and wide paths. All in all, a very beautiful route through nature, with an actual elevation gain of 277 metres! The route is signposted, see photo! https://www.naturwanderpark.eu/nl/wandel paths/a-natour-route-1-dreilaendereck https://www.visitluxembourg.com/nl/routes/naturwanderpark-delux-rondwandelroute-natour-route-1
Start/Finish: B-4790 Ouren/Lieler Dreiländereck, Europadenkmal CR 338 The Our River has persistently carved its winding valley into the Islek rock – sometimes narrow, sometimes wider, with floodplains and lush meadows. The Leisure Trail starts at the Europadenkmal in the border triangle of Luxembourg, Germany, and Belgium. The route invites you to linger at three leisurely spots. Listen to Fario, the chatty brown trout! And get to know water: as a special element, as a powerful, patient creator, as a vein and place of life. Text hiking map (Nature Hiking Park deluxe)
We didn't like the route on the German side quite as much. Almost entirely gravel paths through intact forest. The climb to Königslay wasn't worth it. The view was quite overgrown. The tri-border region is quite nice. Back on the Luxembourg side, the route was to our liking. Rustic root-covered paths with rocky trails.
We start at the Europadenkmal at the three-country point of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Germany. The Our forms the border here and we start with the Luxembourg side. Past a picnic spot and a side valley, the asphalt turns into an unpaved, wide path. The water sometimes flows next to us, sometimes further away, or into the depths. The path gradually becomes narrower and more adventurous, over and along rock passages. We pass the Kalborn mill, with a picnic area and information boards. They tell us about the river mussel, which is farmed here. Once again an adventurous path follows along the banks of the Our until we ascend and cross a road. At Tintesmühle campsite we can cross the Our and climb into the forest. During the second half we continue to follow a wide forest path, which goes up and down, now through deciduous forest, then through coniferous forest, with the water of the border river in the depths. Once you leave the wide path to climb through a side valley to the top of the Koningslei. From a tree house made of branches on top of a rock, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Our Valley. At the end we cross the Our again via the Georges Wagner Bridge.
